i am eating well and exercising a lot but I give in to my sweet tooth too often. Anyone having this problem. I usually have sweets when I run 7 plus miles as a reward but i am basically destroying my hard work. I just need some help with control because i cant have just one serving of sweets. One cookie turns into six, one piece of cake turns into three.

Stop looking at food as a reward. You're not a puppy.

I know how it is when one turns into more. I find that planning it into my food diary in advance, eating it at the end of the day, brushing my teeth and having water, then going to bed was the first steps to controlling it. I also remind myself that one tastes good and two might be better, but at three or more the taste really isn't any better for the amount of calories (law of diminishing returns).3

I try to plan my treats. They aren't rewards for exercise (though I will admit that if I don't have enough calories for the snack I want, I've been known to exercise to make room for them.) I find that once I've pre-logged "One frosted shortbread" and I know I have room for it and I know I'm going to eat it, I can stop. But then, I'm a bit of an emotional eater and for me it's more feeling guilty about eating 'something I shouldn't' that keeps me eating to smother the guilt... which comes back stronger as soon as I finish eating... so I eat more.
For me, realizing that a treat didn't have to be a guilty pleasure and wasn't 'blowing the diet' was huge. And it makes it much easier to stop at a reasonable portion now.2 -

If it is something sweet you are craving could you change it up for a sweet piece of fruit like a mandarin? The calories are a lot less, you get the sweetness you crave and most people generally don't eat more than 1 or 2.0
