Does anyone else gain weight on TOM?
When should I best weigh myself or just wait until it is over to get proper results?

I usually gain a couple pounds until it is over. This last time though I lost three pounds during TOM week. Crazy!

Yea wait to weigh yourself until the end. I've made the mistake of weighing during, and it definitely brought me down. During TOM you tend to gain a little wait, and of course you crave a bunch of random things that sometimes you can't say no to!

Don't worry you're not alone. I usually gain as well but as soon as you're done and you stick to your eating and exercise you will drop those lbs really fast!! Best not to look at the scale during that time ;-)

Apparently, we can gain up to 10 pounds during this LOVELY TOM...

I think most people gain during TOM (he is evil). TOM just arrived in my house, and I am up almost 3 lbs because of him. I know it won't last. If you weigh this week, just keep it in mind. Next week, it should all disappear and more (atleast it does for me). I also have recently started BC, so my body is adjusting to that as well. Anyway, it is normal to gain during TOM (water retension - drink plenty of water to flush your system - it helps).

and I must be the opposite of everyone....I never seem to gain and I still lose when I have TOM.....

I stick to my calories, exercise hard, and drink lots and lots of water!!!!!!

I was starting to think it is a myth but each week I weigh in on Wednesdays....sometimes it is the first day of TOM and sometimes in the middle and I have never seen a difference!

so well not an expert I guess everyone is different!!!!

It's inevitable to at least gain water weight for most everyone, so I wouldn't even think about it. Skip your weekly weigh-in and just want until the next weigh-in to check-in on here. If you want to try to lessen the effects of water retention you can always drink more water (you can try some hot lemon water) and exercise to sweat it off you. I have the same problem with always gaining around TOM, but there's not a whole lot I can do about it but try to alleviate the side effects I have with it. Hope this helps!

I used to gain 2 - 5 lbs before joining MFP. Now, I'm noticing I still lose during that week, but maybe only a half or one pound... and then the next week the scale drops significantly.

I would caution against getting complacent and accepting weight gain those weeks. If it happens, i wouldn't worry or stress about it, but I think it is a good goal to be extra vigilant in our nutrition that week and at least target for the scale to stay even. ** also watch your sodium that week and strive to eat less than 1500 mg sodium per day to minimize water retention **

    Just my opinion.

I usually gain between 5 and 10 pounds, however I'm at the most bloated point right now and I lost 4 pounds since my last weigh in last week....?? Not sure how that happened, but I'm also not going to go looking for it.

I'm about to start any day now and have gained 2lbs in the past 5 days...it sucks but just got to stay strong and stick it out. I think its due to water retention. Ah well :frown:

A big yes, up to 3-4 lbs.
I seldom weigh myself during my TOTM, because I always see a gain on the scale due to water retention. I avoid it at all cost.
