Diet Supplements

Hello, I've been a member for quite some time and have not met my goals or milestone. I have caved in as times but when on track I'm just not seeing the results. So now I'm thinking of trying weight loss supplements again. I've tried SlimQuick years ago and it made me too jittery, I've been looking at some with ketones and such but the caffeine is insane.
Can someone please give me reconditions that you've tried and it works but not loaded with caffeine?

eating in a moderate calorie deficit always works for me...
weight loss supplements are snake oil, save your money.
why do you want something with ketones in it????8 -
Rather than waste time and energy on supplements, I would instead figure out a way to consistently meet your calorie goals. When you're caving, what's causing that? Address that and you'll be able to stay on track and get the results you're looking for.

the whole ketone thing is a load of BS. if you eat ketones and you consume too many calories you will still gain weight..

"If your weight loss is too dramatic cut dose back to every other day" I think that one is my favorite. If there was any magic weight loss that was effective they wouldn't even need to advertise it. It takes hard work, discipline and lifestyle change to lose weight and keep it off.4

I've had the same issues you've had OP. I've tried SlimQuick as well and I didn't like the supplements. I know it might not be a popular opinion but I've been taking the fat fighters from ItWorks and i've lost 3 pounds in the past couple of days. I've taken it when I've had a high calorie meal. That is with eating out at dinner and having booze. I know weight fluctuates and such, but, I'm still experimenting but it's worth a mention. I've been wanting to find something to balance everything out as my body can't seem to properly digest a certain amount of carbs (I'm pretty sure this is why I'm so obese). Look some vids up Youtube on how they work. Good luck.
Note: I've been pretty good with eating healthier (meats and veggies mostly with only drinking water 95% of the time) and working out 3-4 times a week. It's difficult changing a lifetime of bad eating habits. Just sayin'. Carry on..1 -
Take it from someone who has tried it all... The only thing that really works is changing your diet, eating at a deficit and increasing your activity levels. Save your money and spend it on good food8

If your body couldn't digest carbs you would be losing weight since the body wouldn't be able to use or store the energy and would just excrete it.

if you think you have an issue with carbs then you should go to the dr and get tested for a medical condition/food allergy ..
absent a medical condition there is nothing wrong with consuming carbs...5 -

Is this based on science or opinion? I'm honestly curious. The definition of carb intolerance is Carbohydrate intolerance is the inability of the body to completely process the nutrient carbohydrate (a classification that includes sugars and starches) into a source of energy for the body, usually because of the deficiency of an enzyme needed for digestion (taken for the medical dictionary).
My previous diet consisted of pizza rolls and fast food and lack of exercise. Yes that is the main reason I am obese. However my younger brother isn't overweight and his diet consists of mostly fast food and soda. All of our bodies are different with digestion and metabolism. I seem to do better with eating lower carb. My dad lost 70lbs just by eating low carb.0 -

unless you have a diagnosed medical condition we are all pretty much the same when it comes to weight loss and weight gain ...9 -

It's based on basic human physiology - so science. If you can't digest something, it can't possibly be used by the body for anything (except fiber, which is used to help move things along), including energy usage or tissue (muscle, bone, or fat) generation.7 -

That is interesting. I shall have to look more upon that.
Also. I am a medical lab tech (i run blood work, in a doctors office). I've never heard of a blood test to check for an intolerance to carbs. The only thing I've read that can test for that is a breath test.0 -

Well they aren't an appetite suppressant. I think (key word think) is they take the fat and skip the absorption process? I can't remember what the actual process is but look it up on YouTube for a better demonstration. The price for 1 bottle is only a couple dollars more than a bottle of the slim-quick supplements. The bottle contains 60 supplements. I don't understand the difference either. A coworker introduced me to them. Her hubby lost 20lbs by just taking the fat fighters alone.
YES! We will both get to our goals! Good vibes!0 -

you can eat carbs and lose weight and keep it off. What matters is reducing your overall calorie intake...8 -
Respectfully. Not everyone has the same body type and such. Take my statement as you will.0

I felt desperate to lose weight and tried Creative Bioscience 1234 diet drops which helped me to lose fat. I have kept off 50 lbs for 3 years now by keeping it real. Persevere!2

There is no difference in that they are all scams. If any of them had a significant effect upon fat loss, the FDA would step in and regulate them and they would become controlled (prescription) substances. The only weight you'll lose from them is from your wallet. The diet industry is a multi-billion dollar fraud machine built upon lies, advertising hype and pseudoscience.
Here's the key thing to remember when it comes to "fat burners"/weight loss supplements: If it works, it isn't legal; if it's legal, it doesn't work.
Save your money.5 -

If you really feel you need something to help talk to your doctor because the only "supplements" that work are prescription. If you think spending money on a product will give you motivation to have a calorie deficit and move more then buy it but understand it's a placebo and won't have any effect without a calorie deficit. The laws of physics apply to all humans and there is no magic pill but a placebo can be a powerful tool.2
-

respectfully, this is not accurate. The whole "body type" thing is a myth that was perpetrated by a psychologist. Metabolism = metabolism. The only thing that increases it or decreases it is activity level.4 -

That sounds like something along the lines of Alli/Xenical/Orlistat. Very attractive alternative if one wants to walk around uncontrollably gushing liquid orange poo. Here's a great thread from the past in which a number of people detailed their experience with Xenical/Alli: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10290083/alli-xenical-does-it-work-please-only-answer-if-you-have-actually-taken-it/p14 -
I have a sister in law and a sister that are on these "drops" they take..along with some pill..its utterly frustrating to me..only because they have dropped a few hundred bucks on this crap. So get this...they take the "pill/drop" and it curbs the appetite..then they eat some Melba toast and maybe a couple ounces of a lean protein.."to preserve lean mass".
They swear by it because they have lost weight...they mentally have a block and refuse to believe its the calorie deficit that is causing the loss. Its the "drops/pills" that make this possible...you HAVE TO follow the "program"...if you "join" you can become a distributor and buy things cheaper........ i sit in amazement and shake my head.
nearly EVERY diet whatever....always includes the caveat "results happen when combined with a lower calorie intake or some sort of exercise" Some people need the magic pill because they can't trust that they can do it on their own...why...because they've failed in the past, so it is just not in their make up to succeed with some sort of "help" or so they think.
Enter the diet industry. for those of us who have lost weight just tracking your food intake and exercising, we know how it works because we are walking living breathing examples. Show me a person who ate the exact amount of food as they were when they were gaining weight and keeping at the same activity level and just took some pill or drop and dropped the pounds. Those examples are not out there. There are no supplement that say...DON'T change anything in your lifestyle....eat pizza/wings/sweets/soda/booze to your hearts content because our pill will make it all just magically disappear.
I just doesn't work that way. people dig in their heals and say I just will NOT weight my food and log everything..what a pain in the *kitten*... yet they will spends hundreds on some slick advertising at the drop of a hat.
Logging isn't hard...isn't timely...nay sayers won't believe me...my wife included. I guess you just have to discover it on your on at your own time. hopefully sooner than later cuz your wasting time and money not just biting the bullet and do it right.8 -

People want shortcuts and magic pills, not hard work and self-discipline. It's the equivalent of Ronnie Coleman's saying about bodybuilders - "everybody wanna be a body builder, but don't nobody wanna lift no heavy *kitten* weights".
[ETA:] I think I'll start a new one - "Everybody wanna lose weight, but don't nobody wanna be in no *kitten* calorie deficit".6 -
The best "supplement" you can buy for weight loss is a food scale. Give that a try!10
-
Honestly I think that if you decide you want a "program"...choose Nutrisystem or something that sends you actual food in the proper quantities and follow that program. but to take a pill or drops or something...thats just total woo.0
-
Nothing over the counter works. U will be better off talking with your Dr for a prescription appetite suppressant or other ways to lose weight that he/she can safely & effectively offer.1
