Is one rest day enough?

So I am finally getting in my grove again with my workouts and calorie intake. Right now I am on a 3 days on 1 day off schedule. My workout are cardio, strength, cardio, and fourth day is rest. Then repeat. I feel sore, but that is expected since I have been off the ball for a few months. Is 1 day a week enough rest? I worry if I do more that 1 day, I might fall off again! Let me know what you think! Thanks.

Try it... if it's not then try changing your cardio workouts so one is high intensity and one is low intensity.

Yeah, right now my cardio days are usually 60 to 90 min, intense. Like 80-85% heart rate. And my strength days are usually an hour, I do a full body card workout.

You can adjust intensity or do 3 on, 1 off, 2 on, 1 off, repeat.

Personally I go by feel. If I feel like doing even 4-5 days in a row, I just do it. If I feel like my butt and legs are so fatigued from leg day that I can't even walk, I will probably take a couple days off.

I find that I stay sore anyway if I take one day off, so instead I do Monday through Friday (I take a large variety of strength and cardio classes) and take both Saturday & Sunday off. The 2 days usually makes all soreness wear off (plus the extra sleep) so that I don't mind being "regular sore" on weekdays again.

1 day tends to make me still sore enough to be annoying, but never feel fully recovered. And *in my mind* I feel like I'm resetting so that Monday will "challenge" my body again.
