Compensating for overeating??

So today I ate about 300 cal over my goal. If I eat 300 under my goal tomorrow, will my weeks' deficit be saved?

Perhaps consider looking at weekly calories instead of daily? I'd rather eat a bit less across the whole week to compensate instead of cutting the whole chunk out of one day!2

Do you weigh every day? Do you track your weight on a trending app? It may help you not get worked up over one days intake and one days weight on the scale...0

300kcal isn't going to impact your loss massively. You could eat 300kcal less the next day or a bit less than usual but I doubt you see a huge impact on the scale. Unless that food was really salty then you may see a little water weight. Try eating a little less and do some exercise to compensate if you want but I personally wouldn't worry about it and carry on as is. I mean if you look at it over the span of a week it's about 43 cal extra per day of this week, all of a sudden it doesn't look so bad does it?0

You have the false expectation that the scale will reflect your hard work on your chosen weigh in day.
The words "weight loss is not linear" have a meaning.
And it is that your scale weight does not linearly reflect your deficit as if you were a weight loss machine.
Explore the concept of trending weight web sites and apps to better understand your weight level.
Also, as an aside, Monday is probably the worse weigh-in day for the people who insist on only looking at their weight snap shot once a week by virtue of the fact that people tend to go out to eat (or have family and similar events) more often on the weekend. And water weight takes a couple of days to go down to normals... so yeah. So weekly not great, and Monday even less great.
By the way 300 calories is less than one calorie a day over the next year. You do plan to be alive a year from now, right? carry on with your regular plan tomorrow and moving forward. You will be fine as long as you keep to your targets the majority of the time...10 -
I will sometimes go around 300-500 calories over my goal one day (around maintenance) on the weekend, just to allow for eating out and some wine. I then go 50-100 below goal for the rest of the week. I've still always had a loss that week. It's about the full week's CICO not just one day.0

300 cals over goal is at most maintenance (if your deficit is to lose half a pound a week) or just a reduction of your deficit for a day... not worth worrying about IMO.0 -

Agreed, not a big deal as long as you stick with your goals most of the days long term. You are going to be ok with participating in celebrations, family dinners, events, life in general. Our social life revolves around food, traditionally. So just make best choices you can every day, indulge in a bite or two of something sinister and delicious every now and again, savor it, and carry on. Don't think that you will be able to eat the way you were before, that is a biggest mistake, but as long as you employ the cico strategy, you will be fine. Good luck, don't stress about 300cal.0 -
