Yes I try and eat between 12- 1500 depending on how active I've been, do not go very low, you will not lose weight that way.

I am 5ft and 45 years old. I eat around 1800 calories/day, but that is my TDEE. In other words, I do not eat back exercise calories. That supports about 35-40 miles of running per week.

From weight trends, I would guess that my maintenance is pretty close to the MFP estimated 1490 net calories.

It's rather depressing, actually. At 4'9", age 55, MFP has given me 1200 calories for a weight loss of .3 pounds per week (not even a pound!).

I'm 4'10 and MFP gave me the same thing, I moved it up to 1300 because I didn't feel like I was eating enough.

I'm 4'10 and MFP put me at 1200 but by the stats you all are giving maybe I should move it up? I put it at 1300 for this last week.

I'm 4'11 and have 1200 per day here at MFP. But when I did Weight Watchers I lost a lot faster on using the points system. Turns out I was only eating between 1000-1100 on Weight Watchers though. It's a little more strict. I lose slower with MFP but it works for me.

I've lost 17 since mid/late feb eating 1200/day usually...took a month off tracking while doing low carb and maintained but no further loss. Back to tracking diligently. I try to ride my exercise bike for an hour per day and sometimes eat into those calories but not everyday...only if I'm especially hungry. I don't feel super deprived and usually have calories for a treat each day. Feel free to look at my food log although it's nothing special. I also like 1200isplenty on Reddit for food ideas. I'm 135 and have 25lbs to go to get to my goal of 110 and for the first time in my life I feel like I have the tools to actually get to my goal:)

5'0". When I was very active (Roller derby 6 hrs a week, rock climbing 2 hrs, weight lifting 3x per week) I lost an average of 0.8 lbs a week on 1680 calories a day. Now that I am no where near that active, I have to eat 1300-1400 to lose. I'm starting to up my activity again so that I can eat more!

I'm 5 ft and am still struggling to find where I need to be. I think it's probably around 1200, but I'm very active with small children, and am finding it very difficult to keep up with my life at that level. 135 current 120 goal

@circusmamasarah do you add your activity into MFP and eat a portion of those calories? If you're really active you can certainly eat more than 1200...I think most, even short, women can lose on 1200 even if mostly sedentary (although it's slower loss for us shorter ladies;)

I don't really because my Fitbit adds a step burn off usually 700-90o additional calories, and on top of that I teach and train Aerial acrobatics 6-7 days a week. So it makes the whole eating back calories thing confusing because according to mfp, my intake should be somewhere between 1200 and 2500 calories

5'0 and it seems like my maintenance caloric intake is around 1500. But to lose weight it is about 1200. Makes sense because you need to have at least a deficit of 500 each week to lose a considerable amount of weight. If I ate 1500 I would not have a deficit even if I worked out. At 1200 I would be eating what my body needs and would burn extra calories from the 1200. Not great probably when it comes to total caloric intake but as a short girl losing the extra weight is hard while still eating enough. And really, I eat whatever a few times during the week so the 1200 is only for a few days anyway. I notice I consume 1300 on average.
