Anybody lose 100 pounds and not get loose skin? If so, what did you do to not get loose skin and how long did it take for you to lose 100 pounds?

I lost 136 lbs. I have loose skin. BUT I lost the first 55 without exercising and my skin hung worse then, then now after the final 80 which I did strength training through (weights). In other words my skin looks better at -136 then at -55. So I can't emphasize enough how strength training will help minimize it. I've lost 115 lbs. It took 2.5 years. What did I do? I chose the right ancestors.
I have a small amount of loose skin, it doesn't bother me. IMO I don't look any worse than most women of my age anyway.

Hitting the weights helped a lot to stretch the skin back out. My loose skin is hardly noticeable anymore39 -
I've lost 90 pounds so far, working on the last 10. I don't have any loose skin.6

BTW, I wanted to add, loose skin is really dependent on age, how much you have to lose and how long you've been overweight, and how fast you lose it. I wouldn't go faster than 2lb/week. I'm 50 and been overweight/obese for 30 years...so skin was gonna happen. Someone in their 20s or 30s who loses at a reasonable pace probably would have no issue with it.11

nope. I have it on my arms and my legs and my boobs. I guess my stomach but it is hard to tell. I think on my back also.1 -
I'm 31 and will lose around 100 pounds before I'm done. I've lost 55 of it already and know without a doubt I will have loose skin - it's already started in my thighs, arms and low abdomen.
I don't care about it. I'd rather have saggy loose skin than the fat to keep it taut and the health implications that go with it. I'm proud of my health and fitness and positive life choices.6 -

I lost 85 pounds two times before, and didn't have problems with lose skin. I kept active and ate healthy to help skin do what it needs to do.

I'm down 60 of 150 or so and no loose skin so far. The girls are getting a little sad and droopy, but everything else has stayed perky. I'm 35 and haven't had kids, so I don't think they are much worse off than most ladies my age. My stomach does this weird thing where it gets saggy for a few days, then *poof* I wake up with my stomach flattened out a half inch and back where it should be. I've been strength training since day one, so I'm not sure if that makes a difference.8

I'm 47, 5', and have lost 120 (@10 more to go).
I have noticed it -- just in the last couple of months -- on my inner arms, inner thighs, and belly. It was pretty noticeable all at once, it seemed, and a total bummer.
However, it is going away! I'm thrilled about this. I honestly don't know what the secret is. I've read weight lifting helps and as well as time.
Honestly, in my case, I look pretty young. People think I'm in my late 20's; I don't even have grey hair. People are shocked when they find out my age. So, I think in my case I just have pretty awesome grandparents!

Unfortunately loose skin is unavoidable. I am 62 and lost 100 lbs. Some skin did tighten with exercise and filling the loose skin with muscle. However, unless surgery is an option, the skin will always be there.2

I'm 44 and down 83 lbs. I was overweight for over a decade. I have very little loose skin. The only part that's noticeable is right below my belly button. However, that is starting to fade.3

I've lost 60ish and am at about the halfway point.
Aalmost all of my loose skin is from my second pregnancy. I gained half the weight with my second pregnancy that I did with my first (no loose skin that time) and my highest was about 6 lbs lighter.
Near as I can tell the only thing I could have done to avoid loose skin was have my babies when I was younger.1 -
I just finished reading the OPs of the new and the 2015 'bulking for beginners' discussions. MrM27's 2015 discussion states that his loose skin from a 75 lb loss improved rapidly in the first 2 months of his first bulk, and that the increase in production of human growth hormone during a bulk improves skin more visibly than muscle.

I'm 38 years old, 90 lbs down and I have a lot of saggy skin. I go to the gym daily, do cardio and lifting...eat right, sleep, drink water, lotions..,and without surgery it's not going anywhere. Genetics I guess.2

I have lost 85.5 pounds so far (49 left to go) and I haven't had any issues with extra skin, except for my mommy tummy (apron I think some people call it?) but I have had 3 babies and I believe that is what it is from, I have had it since my second birth and it looks about the same "droopiness" as it did then - just smaller now. I am 30 and hoping I don't have issues after these last 49lbs.2

I have lost 120 pounds, about 50 more to go. It took a little over one year to loose 120. I do have loose skin, mainly my upper arms, lower abdomen, and inner thigh. Being 49, and having gone through pregnancy, I kind of expected that.
However, I have been weight training. At first just on my own, then with a certified trainer at a gym. It has made a HUGE difference in my shape. I didn't have legs or an a** like this when I was 18 and 125 pounds! I don't know how much my skin will firm up, but I plan to add plenty of muscle. It seems to help a lot. I only do cardio for 25 minutes two or three times a week, because I seriously hate it. The women I see at the gym who pretty much only do cardio are losing weight, or already thin, but their bodies are not attractive or healthy looking, IMHO.
From my experience, I would say if you want to look good and minimize sagging skin, start researching about resistance training and find a good trainer. If you're worried about looking like a man, get over that right away. The only way lifting weights will make you look masculine is if you take steroids and go to the gym every single day for YEARS.

I have (and this is not scientific fact by all means) read on here that with quick/fast weight loss you will have a lot more excess/loose skin. As well as over the course of time your body/skin/elasticity will have to "catch up" so to speak. Some have said with toning it still has taken MANY years for it to get better.
A LOT of it has to do with genetics. But toning, weight training, resistance training, however you want to put it and time is what will HELP. NOT fix it totally, but help.1 -
I lost 145. Although I have some loose skin, it is mostly where people's problem areas are anyway, upper arms and stomach. People who see my pics often comment that I don't have loose skin, so I guess it's not too obvious. It's mostly in genetics and how much you lost, age, speed of weight loss, etc. I just don't worry about, overall I look so much better than before, it's nothing to stress about.2

It comes down to genetics, age, how long you've been overweight, where you carry most the weight. There are people here who have lost over 100lbs and have almost no loose skin and others who have lost less but have more loose skin.
I have a friend who only gained 60lbs after she started college. She lost in in a year but has loose skin on her legs. She's a pear shape so her tummy is flat and tight but her legs now are covered in stretch marks and loose skin. She said the reason why she won't have surgery is that the skin will slowly tighten over the years and her GP recommended that she waits 5 years before considering surgery, she's only 19.
When i reach my goal I will have lost at least 125lbs, I've lost 30 so far and I already have noticed loose skin. I'm doing weight training, drinking enough water and getting the right nutrients, but I'm certain I will have loose skin and that's fine as I'm losing the weight to be healthier and to live longer. Maybe once I've given my body time to heal i might have some skin removed. I'll see how i feel in 5-6 years4
