Do you workout 12 months of the year or take a break in the middle of the year.

I think week-by-week. Sometimes I have slow weeks due to schedule challenges or whatever. I try to start up the next week with added vigor. It pays to change things up. If you've been at the gym all winter and spring, get outside!

i work out week-by-week. i have arthritis, so some weeks, i literally can't get out of bed. i do my best to do some type of exercise every single day. until i reach goal weight, i don't think i can realistically take a big break.

Consistency is what works for me. I take a break when I am on vacation but I am usually active during that time as well.

I workout year around. I try to do something 6 days per week, but that doesn't always work with life and all so flexibility is key. I tend to do less in the winter as my primary modality is my bike...but I still get into the weight room and make sure I get out on nicer days and make sure I get on the trainer a couple days per week. I also belong to a climbing gym as of recently...I only do that once per week, but I think I might be inclined to do more during the winter in lieu of cycling.

I do take rest days and vacations and stuff like that I usually just take a rest week.

I am thinking the reason is its a long year for 12 months that a workout break can energize you in the long term!

If you are getting sufficient protein for recovery, are lifting sensibly and resting enough, there is no NEED to take a break.

That being said, I normally take a week or 2 completely off lifting when I go on holiday but I remain as active as possible.

Depending on your intensity and lifestyle, you can workout every month, every week, but many programs have a deload week here and there where you lighten up and recover. November is typically my lightest workout month of the year, but that's due to other things that happen in my life/schedule during that time.
