I did not have a chance to weigh first thing Monday morning (naked), so I decided to weigh today ( naked) after eating a very healthy meals yesterday and lunch (my only meal today) to see that I have gained 5 pounds...I have met all my calories burning goals as well. I'm confused

First, weight fluctuations are entirely normal. Everyone experiences them, but we're usually not aware of them until we start trying to lose weight. A few questions:

    1. How long have you been trying to lose weight?
    2. How many weigh-ins have you logged so far? Is this your first one since you started trying to lose weight?
    3. Do you know what your normal weight fluctuation range is?
    4. How old are the batteries in your scale?
    5. Do you have your scale in a permanent spot on a hard, flat surface, or do you need to bring it out when you want to use it? (Or, is it on carpet)?

Your weight fluctuates hour to hour and day to day. Mostly this is water weight fluctuations, but there can be other things, for example undigested food. You said you weighed today after eating lunch. So the weight of the food you just ate (and any water you might have drunk) was inside of you waiting to be processed.

For sanity's sake, weigh yourself at the same time of day. If you forget to weigh in in Monday, go ahead and do it on Tuesday, but at the same time of day so you are comparing apples to apples as much as you have control over.

I always weigh more later on in the day than I do first thing in the am

Weight fluctuates normally, don't let the number dishearten you.
As long as overall trend is downward (if you are wanting to lose of course!) that is the main thing.

Have you had any liquids meanwhile? If you did it is unlikely you peed all of them.

It is a living organism whose main medium is water. It needs it to function so it may retain any amount of it for arbitrary periods of time (up to a month or more sometimes). Don't expect a streight downward weight line. It will be unpredictably jiggly.

Thank you everyone. It all makes sense. I've lost 8 lbs in three weeks.

These weight fluctuations are why I weigh daily and use trendweight.com to track progress, because from one Monday to the next my weight may go up due to hormonal changes, saltier food, water retention due to exercise, etc. If those are my only two data points for the week, it looks like I've gained weight, but if I have data for every day then I can see that the general trend still goes down.
