Hey all, I was just wondering why after strength training my muscles don't get sore until 2 days later. Just curious why it takes that long?

    DOMS

    Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness

Depending on intensity of exercise, it's usually gone within 72 hours of when soreness flared up

  • I heard that cherry juice takes away soreness. I am going to give it a try.

a few weeks ago I worked my legs a little too hard and I couldn't move for almost 5 full days after. The soreness didn't start until the next day (DOMS, as the above poster noted). Keep in mind that this soreness is due to tiny tears in the muscle tissue and your muscles need time to repair. Focus on another muscle group until the soreness goes away. Apply ice to sore muscles, this helps speed the recovery.

Soreness is not always a sign of a good workout. I would workout a different area the next time and give the sore area a break. Listen to what your body is telling you. Do you feel you are sore or in pain....

Just sore, no pain. I always thought when you got sore two days out it showed that you really worked hard. Like sometimes hiking or others activities will hit me on day two also.
