Well - apparently we're all doing it wrong. This explains everything!

I saw the original story yesterday and rolled my eyes so hard I gave myself a brain scan.18

You live on what nature provides you when you breathe, hence "Breatharians." No need for food or water.
Yeah.4 -

Couple of idiots getting media attention by lying.11 -

A couple lived off of "universe energy" for years without eating, and the woman practiced a "breatharian pregnancy". Basically a couple of liars and a slow news week.10 -

"We all know the air is light. We all know there is energy in nature," he told CNN. "So there's no way this can be dangerous."1

There are no calories in air. No nutrients no anything except the oxygen you need to breathe. Not a suitable nutritive substance. These people are full of crap. If they did what they claim, they would be dead.1

The universe provides them with IV nutrients? lol2

Energy in nature? Yes we call those fruit and vegetables which contain calories6

I'm just jealous of all the money they must save not having to buy food3

Isn't that what Po was supposed to do once he became the Dragon Warrior in Kung Foo Panda?!
Tigress: "It is said that the Dragon Warrior can survive for months at a time on nothing but the dew of a single ginko leaf and the energy of the universe."
Po: "I guess my body doesn't know I'm the Dragon Warrior yet. Gonna take a lot more than dew, and universe... juice."8 -
Plot twist: They are drinking their calories instead and taking nutrient tablets.0

How is this still a thing? It seems to rear its head once a decade. People want to believe in anything except the fact that the only way we lose weight is by not eating to excess and, if we want, moving more to give the CO a boost. Gah!!!0

Well, I had a response, but @snickerscharlie beat me to it0

I'm totally trying this.
Until dinner, then I'm eating tasty stuff.4 -
*facepalm* these people and the gullible idiots who will believe them.0

@GottaBurnEmAll : Yes, I forgot to credit the eye-rolly brain scan to its amazing source.1 -
I had to do a 3 day fast for a glucose and insulin test. I was hospitalized, no food, no IV nutrition, only limited water, and risk of unconciousness. I was a rip roaring, hangry hot mess and telling off everybody. I needed a Snickers was an understatement.
This nonsense? Just no.0 -
What's sad is how many people will try and copy them or even twist this and use it to hide eating disorders.0

Sadly accurate.0 -
It's sad that these people are trying to claim this is a thing when there are millions of people starving in the world. If we could live off air, we wouldn't have people starving to death.2

I got the asthma. Can I do this diet?0

Right? I'm sure they think if all those starving people just aligned their chakras or whatever, they'd be fine.0 -
Who is more exploitative? The con artists promoting this "thing", or the journalist reporting it?
There's been a couple prosecuted infant deaths in Canada recently where the parents followed unconventional medical and nutritional ideas.
Not funny at all.

Apparently it's only possible if you believe it's possible, otherwise is doesn't work. Paraphrasing what he actually said.1
