I work at a McDonald's and am up 7-9 hours a day. By the time I'm done with work I feel too exhausted to work out and just want to eat and relax. I get up too early to workout before work so I end up struggling to fit in any dedicated exercise. Any advice on how to work through the tiredness from the daily grind?

You just do it! I generally leave home at 6am, and work til about 5pm. I go straight to the gym - it's on my way home. If I was to go home first, there'd likely be days I'd stay glued to the couch and not make it back to the gym!

We do lots of meal planning and prep so during the week a lot is already done. Meals don't really change much during the week, if at all... Saves time!

I agree that at a certain point you just do it. Chances are if you make yourself just do it for a month your energy level will increase so it won't be as difficult. Being inactive is a circular problem in that it makes you lack energy which leads you to not want to be active. Break the circle and it should get better.

Agree with the above person - make the effort to just do it and soon it will become a habit. I work full-time (corporate desk job, but still mentally exhausting), single and have 3 young kids (one with special needs) that are with me 99% of the time I'm not working. I make it part of our nightly schedule to go to the gym at least 2 times during the week after I get off work then again on Saturday and Sunday. I've found that now my body craves the exercise and it actually gives me energy.

About three years ago I gave up my lunch hour, that's when I go to the gym. I go every day M-F. You asked, so you must want to change, keep at it and you will find a way to get it done.

You said you are too tired to exercise after work. That's understandable. If you stand all day the last thing you want to do is go running. If it was me I would try to focus more on the diet and sleep aspect and if you have time and energy try to get a walk or bike ride or something in.

I get up early and do a video before work. When I first started, it seemed hard and I was tired, didn't want to jump around, etc. I used to only do 20-30 min. You get used to it. I now get up easier and can do longer, more intense workouts.

If you want it, you do it. I get up at 4:45 am, at work by 6:30 working with at-risk children in Brooklyn. By the time I get to the gym, then home...it's almost 8pm.

    Surely you get days off?

When I was doing restaurant work I didn't need a lot of extra exercise. That's a physically demanding job.

Plan a good fun activity on your days off and call it good. Just my opinion.

I work 2 eight hour shifts, 3 nine hour shifts, and commute 2 hours a day, during the workweek. I workout 30-45 minutes every morning before work. Wake up at 6am, workout at 7, out the door by 9. Sometimes I fit a quick mile and a half walk in on my lunch break, only takes 15-20 minutes.
