Protein question.

Is it better to drink my protein shake in the morning?
Or in the afternoon/evening?
Also, since I'm a vegetarian, where would be the best places for me to obtain protein? I am aware that it's better to eat your protein than to drink it.
Thanks!

I drink my shake right after I workout so sometimes in the morning or evening. You can eat eggs, quinoa, cottage cheese is my favorite, nuts. Try to incorporate those into all your meals.0

I'd suggest morning, so you'd be less hungry throughout the day-- and more likely to avoid snacks before your next meal.0

I have mine all day. If I'm not cooking my protein, I'm drinking it.0

I eat a lot of eggs, and almonds as well. I cannot stand the texture of cottage cheese, though.0 -
You should have your protein right after exercising to "refuel" your body.0

It doesn't matter when you have your protein.
Beans, peas, broccoli, grains, milk, cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt, eggs, rice, soybeans, etc.0 -

I am a vegan and it's lunch time and I've already had 81g of protein. Feel free to look at my diary - getting protein is easy!
I drink a protein shake in the morning after I run. I prefer to run early in the morning so I don't end up "running out of time"0 -
Beans and greek yogurt are good sources of protein.0

It's pretty ideal to take protein first thing in the morning because when you wake up is when your body is in a catabolic state being your body's hasn't had anything to eat during the hours you were sleeping, unless you've taken some form of slow-digesting casein protein before you went to bed. So basically upon waking up is when you're body is searching for nutrients, that's why they say never skip breakfast because it gets you out of that catabolic state, boosts your metabolism, gives you energy to fuel your day and sustain hunger for the next meal. It's usually best to eat within that 1st hour upon waking.
It's not bad to have protein in the afternoon & evening as well. Having protein within every meal (main courses & snacks) is actually a good thing. For vegans i'd assume good protein sources are, soy protein powders, soy protein bars, edamame, Galaxy Nutrition veggie cheese slices & veggie cheese shreds, almonds, Morning Star veggie patties are good too. Hope this helps a bit!

Presto your opening paragraph is nothing but broscience my friend. I skip breakfast everyday and eat or drink protein whenever I want during the day. In fact, many people do it. It's irrelevant bro.0 -
The morning and then after workouts... Fuel those muscles!!0

@joejccva71 bro-science or pro-science, relevant or irrelevant... everybody's diet & body work differently. If it offended you, sorry. I should of rather put "what worked for me is...." in the beginning of my post if that helps. Everyone has their own opinion (even the "experts"). Some speak on behalf of their own experiences and some speak from statistical research. And you're right, many people probably do skip breakfast. But then again, there's many people who don't skip breakfast. But what would I know, I only went from 18%-8% bodyfat in 6 months...0

Congrats bro, thats awesome that you were successful in your cut.
However...
It wasn't because you ate breakfast every morning, and it certainly wasn't because you consumed your protein in the morning. Thats what my point was. Meal timing is irrelevant for everyone, not just certain people when it comes to losing weight, gaining weight (muscle), etc.
Edit: Also, it's hard to offend me.0 -
I often have a protein bar in the afternoons (Luna Bars are great for women and tasty too) . I'm a vegetarian as well... I eat alot of beans and cottage cheese, ALSO veggie burgers and vegetarian chicken patties have GREAT amounts of protein, I eat them daily0
