Was it a fluke?

At the beginning of the month, my doctor told me to drop my calories to 1800 from 1920. Two weeks later I had FINALLY started losing weight! Now, nearly a week later, I'm back up 5 pounds!!! The same 5 pounds that I had just lost.
I'm so discouraged... Was the weight loss a total fluke?

Are you five days before your period? I always gain five pounds then. Have you eaten a ton of salt? Have you started a new exercise program? Are you drinking enough water?
It's very likely that same five pounds were related to water weight. At 1800 calories, depending on your height and starting weight, that's going to be a nice slow burn when it comes to your actual fat and not just water. Give it time. The number on the scale will fluctuate drastically sometimes because of water. I recommend downloading an app like Libra and look at your weight trends rather than the random bounces up and down
Hope this helps.1
