Anyone in the same boat?

Hi everyone,

I'm not new to myfitnesspal particularly, but I have never posted on here before. When I first started losing weight I was 106kg (233 pounds) and I had made it down to 77kg by the end of last year but have crept back up to 82kg (180 pounds) now. :open_mouth:
I've been overweight ever since I was about 9 years old and even though I've had partial successes I have never got as close my final goal as last Christmas, when I wasn't even BMI-overweight anymore. The problem with me has always been that I see I have reached a certain point and then panic and think I can't do better and take the eye off the ball...and obviously that doesn't end well! :scream:
When I looked over my stats on here going back to 2011, it made me howl like a hound seeing all the ups and downs and long gaps inbetween logged weights, because I remember all of them and know that there were a lot of bad times there.
But this time I've had it and I'm done with ruining all my hard work by just letting everything slip. I finally want to get to my goal of 68kg, which seems good to me at a height of 1.75m (5'9). So that's 30 pounds. I know it can be done but it's the final 30 and that will be as much of a psychological battle as anything else.

So who's with me? I'm looking for friends this time around for mutual support and encouragement, for those days when you are at risk of giving up on yourself again and wrecking what you've achieved so far.
I'm 28 and based in England, looking for pals home and away, maybe I can help you and maybe you can help me?

Hey @nosugarinmytea Sounds like you've already done amazingly to me, and I'm more than happy to check in with you. I hear you on the yoyo front, I don't have masses to lose but got down to my target weight in 2015 and am now a stone heavier again so am trying MFP to see if it helps me with consistency. Socialising is one of my main issues, I live in London and while I can stick really well at home, when I go out all hell breaks loose! Am trying low carb this time and Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred. Have you read Better than Before by Gretchen Rubin? She has loads of great info and tips on habit formation, and might give insight into some strategies to help you stick with it long term. Good luck, you're already doing brilliantly!

@nancyrosetaplin - Thank you so much, can I add you on here? Socialising is the worst, and temptation is lurking everywhere...recently it's snuck into my own house as my partner is a total pizza fiend. Can't exactly make him eat in the cellar though, unfortunately. :pensive:
That books sounds really good, I'll give it a read - thanks for the recommendation!

Of course! My husband is a lover of junk food, so I feel your pain; last night I practically had to drag him past the fish and chip shop, poor guy. He's dieting by proxy...
