Hello everybody! I have been with mfp on and off for about 7 years now. I admit that I have not been doing well with tracking my macros. Or much else for that matter. Needless to say I've put on quite a few pounds. I've been soo depressed lately. I really need motivation right now to help me get back on track. I'm determined to do what I have to do to get into shape and live a healthy lifestyle. Who's with me?

I've been the same. Been using the app on and off for about 4 years. The first time I used it I lost 2 stone. But that's all gone back on and more. But I'm back now and determined to make it stick this time! If you want some support feel free to add me. We're all in this together!

I used MFP quite successfully a few years ago, but fell out of practice and the weight came back on. I've found that most of the people I'd added as friends and who provided me a little accountability and motivation have stopped using MFP.

I'm very interested in rebuilding my friends list and getting back to a sense of mutual support for a healthier lifestyle. I'm down 40 pounds so far this year and really want to keep this going. Anyone reading this who is interested in helping each other, please feel free to add me.

I'm of the somewhat controversial opinion that motivation doesn't exist. (Don't hit me!) However, depression is a bear that can make it difficult to do anything. That doesn't mean you can't make it easier on yourself, however.

"Determined" is a good word, and a good concept. It means you've made some form of decision to improve your life. What is that decision, specifically? Stick to that. Make it your mantra. Ideas are easy to go back on, but plans that you commit to are more difficult to break.

As part of my own journey, I've been reading the Daily Stoic, which is about gaining mental discipline in the face of difficult circumstances. Over and over again, the Daily Stoic emphasizes that we're good at taking care of our bodies--feeding them, clothing them, keeping them clean, keeping them safe, preventing ourselves from being beaten or enslaved, etc. However, we don't tend to do the same for our minds, and that's where all the real decisions get made! Depression can make it hard to trust your mind, but you don't have to allow negativity to affect your decision-making. You can make good choices for yourself. I believe in you.
