Balancing it all

Hi All,

Just started on this. First time I've posted to something like this. I'm sure my situation is not unique. I have the knowledge of what I should and shouldn't eat, the problem lies more in the fact that I am sedimentary. I wake up at 5:30AM to get myself and 3 year old twins ready. Out the door sitting in a car 40 minutes to work and while there I have a schedule that is very hectic (director of operations for a software company) I leave at 4, back in the car home to cook dinner then you feel like you should play with the kids before they go to bed. Bath, stories, etc... then you plop on the couch to at least be in the same room of the wife before heading down at 10PM.

There just doesn't seem like enough hours in the day to exercise and get brainless time. Anyone found a secret?

Yesss...this is such a struggle. I've gotten to the point where my husband and I do every other day work outs. On Tuesday and Thursdays he picks up the kid from day care while I go work out. I usually get home just in time to help put our son to bed at 7:30. Meal prep on Sundays is also a huge help so I have healthy breakfasts and lunches to take during the week. Definitely make sure to get work outs in on the weekend too...which with 3 year olds probably just means running around with them. My son loves stroller runs. Getting on a schedule, while boring, definitely helped me. Making sure I make time for myself (even if it means giving up an hour or so of time with my son) is huge too...I think it benefits all of us.

I wish I knew, the most helpful thing I have found so far though is meal prepping on sundays. I dont have kids but this works with spending time with my husband and our dog (and no im not comparing a child to a dog, however I enjoy spending time with her, and feel like I never get to see her) is to go on nightly walks, some nights its two hours, sometimes its 30 minutes, could you as a family all go on a walk? at least you get to spend some time together, also Crockpot dinners, once you get back from your walk you can sit down and eat, play with the kids, get them ready for bed etc, and then have your mindless time you are looking for.
