Ok so I have a bad knee, no insurance so can't get it taken care of right now, also have serious problems with my feet, they pretty much hurt all of the time, my question, can anyone help me come up with some cardio, that doesn't debilitate me afterwards.

I usually work out in the mornings, and then go to work, I work for a cleaning company by the end of the day I am such pain I walk around my apt. like a 95 year old.:grumble:

When I use the treadmill my feet are killing me after 20 min, same thing with the elliptical, I can do the bike but an hour later my knee looks like a deformed grapefruit.

I am not in terrible physical shape, but really want to up the cardio to burn off that fat:mad:

Any ideas???
Do I just suffer through it and am I being a big wimp???

Also different shoes don't help. I have tried every pair out there.

Am open to any and all suggestions.

  • If you have access to a pool, try swimming or aqua aerobics class. Even just walking in the pool. No stress on your joints when you're in the water.

I know I havebad knees. m I've actually have had to have shots in them. My feet hurt so bad at times just want to cry. but since I've startede the tread mill they feel a little better every day. Even been trying the elliptical. Did 1 minute first time and knees were killing me, now I'm up to 2 five minute tries andI can still walk down the stairs of the gym. First time on the devil machine thought I was going to fall down those stairs.
  • I call it the devil too. My feet have been bad for about 5 years, it is hereditery and also used to stand on a ladder 6 or 7 hours a day.

Try taking an advil or aspirin an hour before you work out. it will decrease the inflammation and pain that the exercise causes. I agree that swimming would be a great exercise for you (and for everyone)!! Also, try starting slow and work your way up!

you can do it! Just don't hurt yourself!
  • great idea about the pool hadn't thought of that, I live in ridiculously small town, but I belive we have an indoor pool at our braille school.

I grew up in a "ridiculously small town" (population 700!!!) and I'm pretty sure we didn't have a braille school!

Swimming would be great if you can find a pool!
  • "our " braille school has been here for a hundred years it is the one the Laura Ingalls Wilder's sister Mary went too, it no longer houses very many students, but the main campus is much the same because of it's history.

Is it the bottoms of your feet? Could be plantar fasciitis (google it). Try using a frozen water bottle to roll on the bottoms of your feet or a tennis ball.
