Hi Guys,
Can anyone explain to me how a heart rate monitor works? They seem to be very expensive, so I'm wondering if they're worth it! Do they record calorie burning accurately? Do you just wear a band around your wrist or something? Any advice on whether it would be useful or not would be greatly appreciated!

I have the polar ft60 and really like it! You wear a strap around your chest and then the watch on your wrist. It really motivates me to keep going and push myself to get to a number I want to reach for that day. Its nice because I can do cardio and then do weights and it will keep tracking the entire time. Before I had it, I had no idea what I was burning while lifting weights, or doing squats/lunges. It also helps me kick my intesity up. I do think I should have just gotten a lesser version of the watch (like the ft7). The one I have does soo much stuff, but it's honestly way more than I need or use.0
