Caloric Deficit

I understand that if you eat 500 calories below what you burn then you will lose one pound a week, also if you eat 1000 calories below what you burn then you will lose 2 pounds per week. My question is what happens if I eat less than 1000 calories than I burn? For example say is to lose 2 pounds a week I need to eat 1800 calories a day. What happens if I only eat 1500 calories or 1400 calories? Will my body go into starvation? I've seen where people say your body won't burn fat or you won't lose weight because your eating too little calories...is this true? Thanks!

You'll lose weight faster if you eat at a bigger deficit. Keep in mind though, that when you lose weight its not just fat that is lost. Also lean muscle mass. A more aggressive deficit will result in more lean mass being lost.

Starvation mode isn't really a thing. You won't stop losing weight if you are under eating. There could be other bad consequences though.

As Staci pointed out.....do you want a higher % of fat loss......or just the number on the scale?
