I was wondering how quickly YOU lost weight eating 1200 calories a day??

I lost 100 pounds in a year eating between 1200-1800. Not recomended for everyone 12005

I've got no intention of eating 1200/day. My base is 1380 right now, but I usually exercise to increase my deficit and eat about 1600 most days. Over 65 lbs lost in 8 months.8

Eating 1200 plus exercise calories of about 200 a day, I lost 30 lbs in 1 year.
 Sounds slow doesn't it?
Maybe it was but it was the healthy way to do it as a 5'1, 54yo menopausal woman whose general life style was sedentary and started at the top of her normal BMI (130lbs). Not overweight.
I have also kept at my goal weight of
100-105 lbs for over 7 years.
Everyone is going to be different. If I was starting 300 lbs and on 1200 I would have lost those 30 lbs in a couple of months.
If I had not eaten back exercise calories I could have lost in about 9-10 months, but would have been tired and probably undernourished.
Eating 1200 and rate of loss varies depending on personal stats and the appropriateness of the calorie goal.
 Cheers, h.9

Not very much because I find 1200 to be very unsustainable.6
-
When I first started 1200-1300 was my default calorie goal. It was unsustainable for me.
I increased my calorie goal by 300-500 and I've had better results with that.
Keep in mind, each body is different. We all have different weights, stats, metabolisms, activity level, medical conditions, fitness goals, etc.

I lost 97 lbs in a little over 2 years starting at 1780 for 1 lb a week now down to 1450 for 1/2 lb a week. Always added back excercise cals.
Like @middlehaitch - it might seem slow but that's the reason 2+ years on, I'm still losing. IMO rarely is 1200 necessary.7
-
            None. I lost 150 lbs eating 1700. That took 2 1/2 years.7

            35 pounds in 11 weeks2

            I lost ~2lb per day @ 1100 cal.
Don't do it unless you absolutely have to.
(I am also young and with a fast metabolism)4

I have a 6 month bootcamp-esque job that I have to do, which I would fail out of at my old weight.0

How many days did you diet?
4 months, with a 2 week transition in the beginning.0

I lost 58lb in 2 years eating as many calories as MFP would allow me and thats with going over calories quite often as 'life happens'4
-
I'm eating 1200 ish now. I still lose at a snails pace. My average is closer to 1400 because I will not do 1200 every day.0

            I'm at 1200. 17.7 pounds lost as of today 66 days logging. I wanted 2 pounds a week.2

Does that mean the two week transition was when you lost two pounds per day?0

I lost 40lbs in a year on a mainly 1100-1300/day diet but it took me a month to slowly drop my calories to get used to it and to find low cal foods that keep you full (chicken, coffee, veg and avocados omg). I kept my calories lower since I did not exercise. If I did occasionally go to the gym I would allow myself to eat up to 1500 cals if I got hungry but for some reason cardio makes me lose my appetite0
-
Slowly. Not as fast as MFP promises me every day when I complete my diary. But I am progressing, just need patience. Most days I exercise and eat the calories back because it's hard sticking to 1200 calories.1
-
            I lost 8kg in 6 months eating 1600. I don't think I could function well eating that low cals.0
-
            97lbs in 18 months at 1200 a day plus exercise calories3

I eat 1800-2000 calories a day because I am marathon training. I've lost 42 pounds in a year and a half. I am not really worried about how FAST I am loosing. I just want to KEEP it off this time. 2 2
-
I too want to keep my weight off this time so I am eating between 1350-and eating back part of my exercise calories. so far I usually lose .5 to 1lb a week- but I have had stalls when I go to low then over eat- etc- so now I just stick to my 1300-1400 calorie if possible0
-
            I've lost 50lbs in 5 months0

My 17+ month chart of weight resembles an exponential decay. Early in the journey, I lost weight quickly at the rate of 1-2% per week. Later, it's more like 1-2% per month.0

I lost about 3 lbs per week when I was eating 1400 and very active. It was miserable. I wouldn't even attempt 1200.0
-
Several years ago I ate at 1200 and was losing 1-2 pounds a week (probably closer to 2 most of the time) for a total of 40 pounds lost in about 4-5 months.
I will never do that again. I felt so sick, weak, and tired. My health recovery afterward resulted in regaining 25 pounds over 8 months and then 25 more over the following year.
Now I eat between 1800 and 2200 calories gross (1800 net) and lose 0.75-1.5 weekly depending on a variety of factors including exercise, daily activity level, and how hungry my nursing baby is.
I feel like a million bucks eating the way I do now. I feel energized, strong, and healthy. I was so miserable on 1200 daily and didn't even know it until I stopped.2
