Sort of new but not so new....

My name is Helen and I am a 32 year old from Indiana. I currently weigh 320lbs and this is not my first time with mfp... I get burned out for better lack of term after time and stop logging my meals, then soon after I stop dieting. Though lately I've come to find out I HAVE to do this not only for myself but for my health and my family.
Recently some major health issues have surfaced, some due to weight and some that are not. Though loosing weight would help in those areas too.
I am hoping to meet to people here that understand and hopefully we can help each other out.
Some of my issues listed below:
- Diabetic
- High Blood Pressure
- Borderline with cholesterol
- Anemic (bad enough they are talking about a blood transfusion)
- ovarian issues
- hidradenitis suppurativa (skin condition which if anyone googles mines not nearly as bad as some, but still painful and very embarrassing)
- Vitamin D deficiency
That's the main issues currently. Hoping to make new friends and some huge lifestyle changes.
The picture is of me (Nintendo shirt), my son next to me, my husband bottom right. This was during our honeymoon in 2014. Not much difference in weight

Welcome back! I'm also a veteran/not veteran, lol. The thing that brought me back here and most legitimately was my mother passing away from a massive heart attack in May. She had heart disease that she wasn't aware of simply because she chose to ignore her body, she was overweight, she had high blood pressure, etc. I don't want go down that same road of self destruction so here I am. Best of luck to you!0

I know it's tough. Good luck keeping focused on your goals!0

So sorry to hear that. I lost my mom to cancer/heart disease which should have been my wake up call and for awhile it was. I was almost under 200 then had emergency surgery and fell back into old habits. Best of luck to you as well ❤
Thank you! I've done really good today except I'm still learning to watch my sugar levels and I guess the fruit spiked it over 5030 -
Hi. I'm new too. I like the pic. Where were you?0

Hi thank you and welcome to you too0

I'm from Indiana, what about you?0

I'm in a similar situation as you. Being new but not new. I've also got some health issues, diabetes, enlarged liver and pcos. Losing work would help with my issues, so that's why I'm back on here. I was just recently diagnosed with all three and I'm learning what's ok and not. I think with us both being diabetic we may be able to help each other out.0

I also have impending health issues starring me in the face. Firstly, I'm overweight and am pre-diabetic and know that I'm destined for health complications if I don't get my life in check because my mother has high blood pressure, diabetes, and cholesterol. She lost vision in one of her eyes because of it. I also tend to get on track and then lose it because of tracking and just plain getting frusterated that I have to deal with this struggle in my life. However---I can't let my life control me. I need to control it! What is your plan to healthier living?0

I think we could too! It's really a struggle at times. Finding out what's ok and what's not. The other day my sugar spiked to 503.... I had fruit and love fruit and didn't realize how bad it would spike it. A coworker of mine told me that before I eat any fruit to eat protein before hand that would help a lot. I never knew that. My doctor wants me to do all this stuff at once0 -

I hate to hear that about your mom, before my mom passed she had a lot of health issue being diabetic was one of them and the older I get the more I realize the bad stuff she did to her body I'm doing to mine and she wouldn't have wanted that.
For a healthier living I have been eating more fruits and veggies. I love both so that helps. Some I don't like though. I cut out all soda and replaced it with water, diet gold peak tea which is the closest I've come to sweet tea without gagging. I also drink carbonated flavor water just for a change to help when I crave the soda. Clear American ice has been my favorite and his vitamins in it.
Excercise other then cleaning and work yeah I don't do much of that yet. I've been hurting to bad from medical issues that hopefully will be somewhat taken care of at least come August. Once I recover I plan to walk more to start out at least.
Protein I'm finding is a good friend0 -

It's crazy what can make it spike. When mine spikes, I get really really bad headaches and feel bad all around. It's tough. I get scared to eat and will go hours and hours without eating but then that makes me feel crappy to. I feel like I can't win.0 -
Same here! The other day it spiked so quick that my body felt extremely heavy like I had a ton of weights weighing me down and I got very lightheaded. Finally when it came down and leveled out I felt better but geez0
