Should I eat even if I'm not hungry?

I've been trying to cut back and drop some weight, but if I only eat when I'm hungry I realize that some days I'll clock in well below 1220 kcal which was what MFP recommended given my weight and relatively sedentary lifestyle. If I'm at 800 for the day and I'm not hungry, should I eat to break the 1000 or just eat when I'm hungry and let the numbers go? I don't want to shock my metabolism lower and make the weight harder to take off, but I also don't want to overeat.

Yes. It's not that the weight will be harder to take off (it's actually contrary), but that you need to make sure you're giving your body adequate nutrition to run properly. And you should be eating to 1200, not 1000. If you have problems getting your calories up, add some calorie-dense items such as cooking oils, nuts and nut butters to your day.

You can make the calories up the next day. Just make sure you average about the recommendation. You can log the extra snack you will have tomorrow as a snack today.
