MyFitnessPal has been my Bible since January 11th. Gone from 185 down to as low as 138 and maintaining 140-142. I'm 5'9, and have gone from a size 12 to a size 4 / 6 in right around 5 months. I log EVERYTHING, and run one mile a day. So thankful for this app and this community!

Amazing! Thanks for sharing. I turned 42 last week and sometimes I catch myself in negative talk thinking that it doesn't matter now if I lose the weight now at my age because I will just be wrinkly and flabby.1

Only running and logging calories? No weight training at all? You look super toned and muscular! What a fantastic shedding of weight and gaining in life you've accomplished!
I'm 47, 41.2 pounds down so far since March, another 53.8 pounds until goal. So heck yes, it can be done in our 40s, though some of us may not end up so fit looking. Lol8 -
Amazing changes, well done!!
I'm finding it easier to lose in my 40's than when I was in my 30's. I think my determination and outlook on life has changed though.10 -
Totally awesome. If can definitely be done after 40. 1 year ago I dare myself to loose 45 lbs for my 45th bday. I year later I am at -98 lbs and still loosing.

Picture 1 is me at 204 with my daughter. Picture 2 is me with my son down over 90 pounds
I was always heavy as a child. In school there was only one girl heavier than me. In high school, I surrounded myself with overweight people. I continued to be heavy into my young adult life. My weight yo-yoed. I tried the Atkins diet back in the 70’s. I lost weight to only put it back on. When my step-daughter was planning on getting married, I went on Jenny Craig. I was able to get down to 150 pounds. But that didn’t last long. I put the weight back on. I had trouble conceiving, when I finally did, I blossomed up to over 200 pounds, with gestational diabetes. I was able to lose about 40 pounds. I was older and found myself pregnant again. This time the gestational diabetes was worse. I was on insulin. I also grew to over 200 pounds again. After the birth of my son, I just gave up dieting; I was too busy raising a family. My baby brother was diagnosed with emphysema that caused me to quit smoking. I ballooned to my highest weight ever. My diabetes was not under control. My health was spiraling out of control. My doctor’s office gave me an ultimatum. Loss weight or else. Since I’m a nurse, I knew the consequences of diabetes. I began my adventure December 1, 2014. My doctor originally wanted me to get down to 150. I decided to I wanted to get in a healthy BMI, so I choose 123. I was on medicine for high blood pressure, high cholesterol, along with three different medicines for diabetes, including insulin. I am only on 1 medication at this time, and never felt better in my life.30 -

I agree, I have lost 12.5kg (27.5 lbs) since Jan and at 43 am now the lightest and fittest I have been since a pre-teen (my body is nowhere near as toned as yours though)2 -
Thanks everyone. I want to thank my best friend that helped me get here, LeanJL.

I hear ya. I totally let myself go at 40 when I succumbed to stress at work and got into the headspace of I'm old now, who cares. Really?! What was I thinking? Thank goodness I let go of that negative thinking. I have a different outlook now and am more focused on strength training, mobility, and slow fat loss.2 -
Did it at 55 years old.
85 pounds loss since Jan 15th.
181-183 now maintaining.4 -
