I've lost 51 lbs since Jan. Consistently 1.5 a week. I have run into a plateau. No weight loss in 3 weeks. I am NOT eating at maintenance. Mine is around 1800 calories and I am eating just at or under my 1500. Normal? Will I expect a big swoosh or Do I need to change things up? Open diary.

It's normal to have weeks of no weight loss. I have this and go into full panic mode! Then I have a woosh and lose 3lb! Overall the loss still equals to .05-1lb a week for me. I had to drop my cals to 1400 to lose though, depends on your stats and how active you as to whether you need to fiddle cals a bit.

    1. How often are you weighing? You could just be seeing some random spikes if you're not weighing every day.
    2. How close are you to goal weight? It does start to slow down the closer you are.
    3. You are eating a lot of fast food lately. Is this normal for you? If not, the sodium could be causing water retention. Either way, there can be a lot of variance on consistency of serving size that easily could eat up a 300 calorie deficit. Remember, they aren't throwing things on food scales back there before serving them to you.
    4. Speaking of food scales are you using one? I can't tell for sure and peanut butter alone can easily betray you.
    5. Quick adds are not ideal--try creating your own entry when there isn't one already. If nothing else, it helps you track your macros a bit better.

    Thanks for your reply.
I weigh myself every Wednesday morning.
I am about 30 lbs from my goal.
Yes the fast food is normal lately. I need to get a handle on it. I normally will skip a meal or snack if I had a fast food meal that day.
I am using a food scale. Not religiously as I was. I do weight out my peanut butter once it goes on my bread lol
The quick adds are looking up the nutrition online from the place and adding up the numbers because the place is not in mfp.

You're not weighing as carefully as you used to and you've stopped losing?

Realistically, a 300 calorie per day deficit comes to 6300 calories, or 1.8 pounds, over three weeks. That's well within the bounds of not noticeable on the scale due to water weight fluctuations. I suggest not changing anything until you've seen no scale movement for the length of one menstrual cycle or 6-8 weeks if you don't have a period.

By the way. You can have some good fast food choices. I know I find some good fast food choices most of the time.

My guess is you are getting down to "the lard" meaning the hardest weight lose and it will break loose soon. Maybe try upping your cardio to burn a bit more.

While 3 weeks is not really reason for concern, I'm confused by what you said in your posts. You indicated you're eating 1500, your maintenance is 1800 and you had been losing 1.5 pounds a week on average for several months. The math does not work. But the good news there is that most likely your maintenance is higher than 1800. By results, eating 1500 and losing at 1.5 pounds per week implies your maintenance is ~2250, though that will decline gradually as you get to goal.

Since its only been 3 weeks, I would say to have patience. BUT if you know there are areas where you can improve accuracy, then that won't hurt. And while there is nothing wrong with fast food/eating out, keep in mind that there is bound to be error when you have food prepared by someone else. Simply due to human error and the fact you can't know if it is exactly what you expect in terms of calories in. SO if you continue to see no change in the next 2-3 weeks then try making/controlling more of your food and cut back on the food prepped by others.

Sometimes i barely net 1200. Ive had my fitbit since day 1 so im fairly certain its counting my steps correctly. Im just baffled at how the body works. I guess I will reevaluate after my vacation in a few weeks.

    Thanks for the replies
