Hello all! I suspect that I have an intolerance to gluten.....I guess I just didn't want to admit it for awhile. I do love my breads....but, they really don't love me! I've been up most of the night with a headache and dizziness. I had a bloated, crampy and sore abdomen after eating some homemade coffee cake. After a few hours, I was gassy and then eventually had diarrhea. Any suggestions?

So, what foods should I avoid? Suggestions....?

well, living gluten free is actually relatively easy... but I would check with your doctor before deciding what you have. Celiacs is different than other intolerance to gluten. I have Celiacs. I can't have gluten-period.

Fruit & veggies are fine. Non-fried meats are great. Rice, potatoes =) there are lots of GF cereals now - Chex & General Mills do the best job. Pamela's pancake mix & brownie & cake mixes are amazing, but costly. GF waffles are available at most supermarkets as are some GF breads. Udi's is one of the best I've come across. But GF bread is heavier and higher calorie, so be careful.

    Hope this helps.

hi, am also gluten, yeast and rye intollerant. Have you seen a specialist to determine your allergies?

avoid ready made potato products as they contain some yeast/gluten, your best to make food from scratch yourself so you know what your putting into your meals.

No bread, but you can always get a lot of gluten free alternatives, i do find however that these have higher carbs than the regular stuff so i tend to avoid them. I eat more rice and potatos now but i really bulk up on my protein and veg.

After a while you should be able to start re-introducing these foods back into your diet. one day at a time and slowly so you can see which foods it is that is triggering your allergies.

If i want a sweet treat i make gluten free muffins or brownies. its not hard to be gluten free but i do recommend being tested for any other linked allergies.

I've been noticing that when ever I eat things like breads and pasta's I feel like crap afterwards. My sister has Celiacs and she recommened the following websites. You can get some really great recipes from them as well as motivation from them.
