My MIL gave me an Everest bag that is hanging in my shop, just waiting for me. But...I have no idea what to do with it. Anyone have any links to videos that would give me an idea of how to put this thing to use?

I have no specific links but look for some good kickboxing form tutorials on YouTube to learn the basics and then look for some combo videos.

Awesome workout. Search youtube for terms like "how to box" and "beginner's boxing" and watch a bunch of them. Also research how to choose gloves (hint - it's not by color :-)

If you have experience squatting heavy, you can squat while clasping your arms around it. Seriously, it's a killer workout. :+1:

Wrap your wrists. Watch some videos or get someone to show you how to punch, etc. I have one and its a great workout. Add me and i can message u with more detail.

If you get good gloves you won't have to wrap your wrists initially. Once you start getting stronger and your experience and power increases you will want to get wraps. Start off with really light hitting because unless you have previous experience you can damage your wrists. Your knuckles will be sore at first but the heavy bag is a great cardio tool. I really enjoy mine and I got a speed bag as well. Enjoy!!!

Learn your basic punches (jabs, cross, hooks, uppercuts) with good form, then do combos of these punches.

But yes... wraps and gloves. And good form.

Get good wraps and gloves. There are only 6 punches in boxing. You tube them then start practicing different combos. Alternate between periods of speed and periods of full force while resetting to maintain form.

Boxing is a lot of fun and has become my obsession this year. I can't wait to get a bag at home.

@SCoil123 Boxing is great fun, I'm just getting back into training myself after a couple of years out.
Are you planning to fight or just training?

@momofamadhouse I agree with the other guys who said watch some videos and practice techniques. Start with the basics and take one step at a time, if you don't get the technique right you can cause yourself injuries.

Thank you guys so much! I bought some cotton wraps and a basic pair of training gloves. The wraps are a little tricky, and there are a few different methods I've found on YouTube but I'm sure the more I practice with them the better I'll get at it. I've been binge watching videos on form and foot work and punches and finally did a beginner's routine last night. It was only 600 punches and it took forever because I was going so slowly (form and injury prevention are my #1 priorities). But it was so much fun! I can't believe I waited so long to get at it. Thanks for all the advice

I joined a women's amateur team. Right now we are training and starting to spar. Our coach has mentioned competition but none of us are on that level yet. The team just started in March and half the ladies joined late. I love it though. I never expected to get hooked the way I have. We train 60-90 minutes 3 days a week
