Anyone had success going low*ish carb? Meaning not totally eliminating them but scaling back. Ex a very tiny portion of rice or pasta and bulking up the meats and veggies.

Did it work for weight loss? Was it sustainable?

If you don't mind eating very small portions of carbs then yes, it will be sustainable, otherwise, probably not.

For weight loss you just need a calorie deficit.

If eating fewer carbs helps you eat fewer calories.,...then yes, it will work.

For me I'm not eating low(er) carb, instead I like to think of it as moderate carb. I shift my focus to protein. I make sure I meet protein goals. Meal plans go something like this - protein is grilled chicken - do I want a grilled chicken sandwich? If yes, then I nix the potato salad and have green salad instead. If I want potato salad, then I nix the bun. I have 1 starchy source of carbs.....not two. I'm also learning appropriate portion sizes for maintenance.

I'm trying lower carb. It was too painful and frustrating to eat 20 to 50 grams of carbs per day. I am hoping by eating some carbs each day I will be able to keep to it and I have lowered my total calorie intake. I liked this article by Kesser on determining carb intake https://chriskresser.com/the-3-step-process-to-determining-your-ideal-carbohydrate-intake/
