    Im not on atkins and I could be wrong... but I thought atkins (a true atkins diet) was zero carbs. My friend and his wife are right into personal training etc and that's what he told me about atkins. He says his wife does it once a year but only for two or three months at a time because she believes it's un-natural and hard on the body.

    actually the first couple weeks you can have up to 20 carbs, after that it goes up. I was looking at it a little as a break for my normal diet pattern but there is NO way I can get my carbs that low. I tried for one day and ended going into a carb binge (ok on calories...but it was almost all from carbs)

    Get the Atkins book or Google for info. There is a certain amount of carbs to eat daily/ most cheese has carbs. Just keep track of your liver function with your Physician. Get the Atkins Book very imformative. When Atkins became popular 25 people at my office got on the program stict. We all lost a large amount of weight. 98% of everyone including my self gained half back or all the weight back. You are never suppose to deprive your body of any food group to stay healthy.     I think atkins is just another diet/ health fad... I barely ever hear about it anymore. I agree that depriving your body of any nutrition group is un-natural. That's like saying carbs are to blame for north amercia being so fat. Its just another scapegoat.

    I'm not going to go on it.....I was more of a curiosity question because I eat a ton of vegetables and my carbs go quite high due to that. I know on atkins you can pretty much eat protein and some vegetables so I was just curious as to the typical amount. Thanks for the replies
