First Powerlifting Meet

I'm coming up on my first ever powerlifting meet on Saturday and I gotta say every day that passes I get more and more nervous. I have learned a few things as to how I should have prepped and trained from the get go, and I feel like I am unprepared. I don't know anyone else in the meet and although I know a general gist of what to expect, I'm still sort of nervous to walk up and be the "newb" on the platform. I didn't have a trainer, so I don't have someone like that to reference and ask questions to. Any advice, or your first meet experience would be greatly appreciated! I am going alone and am SUPER nervous. Thanks!

I don't have advice yet because I Just committed to one for next summer ( I was going to do this year but a broken bone this past winter set me back). All I can say is you've got it! It's fantastic that you're doing it at all and I support you!1

It's going to be an amazing experience!! I just signed up for my second powerlifting meet this morning and I absolutely can't wait! It really is incredible to be in a room with such talented, supportive, like-minded people (also strong, Very strong.). It's natural to be nervous because you've never done anything like it and a lot of people are watching, but everyone will be cheering for you to hit your lifts. My only advice would be to make sure your openers are a weight you're comfortable with (around 70%-80%), so you can build confidence and get a feel for what it's like on the platform.0

Never done a powerlifting meet before but probably like all new things- just go give it your best, try to enjoy and if it's terrible then you have an opportunity to do better the next time.
Good luck, you got this!0 -
Good luck!
From what I know through my limited experience of powerlifting (watching a couple of comps, and having some training sessions with a powerlifting coach in their gym), I think powerlifters are a friendly, supportive bunch of people. They seem to cheer each other on, and seem to genuinely want everyone to do well.
You have to start somewhere - you don't need to win the comp to be a winner, just do your best!0
