Garmin vivosmart hr+ and mfp calories

Trying to figure this out - suggestions appreciated!
Yesterday I ran, and had the 300 odd calories added to MFP, plus another 140 ish - I assume because my mfp is set at sedentary (desk job) so this must be general walking around etc.
Today, I did a gym workout - 300 calories according to garmin, which also shows 192 active calories ( additional to the gym - walking to and fro work probably). But MFP has only had 154 calories added, so not the 300 from the gym. MFP has added the 300 from the gym but is then showing a -148 calorie adjustment based on my steps (higher number of steps than usual). I'm wondering if the -148 is so that the steps that were actually part of the gym time weren't double counted? But if so, why didn't it do that yesterday when I ran? Confused!!!

i must say im a little confused by your post.
i have this watch too.
The steps i run are included in my step count for the day.
the calories burnt is dependent on your heart rate?!
but every time i pog an exercise...any calories burnt during that time is added to my mfp calorie allowance for the day.
As for my steps...very little is noted as 'active calories' and so very little is added to the mfp calorie allowance for the day.
if you logged your exercise on your garmin then the only reason i can think of why its not on mfp is that is hasnt synced?!0 -
log not pog0

Weird isn't it? Ive synced it a couple of times in case it hadn't caught up. Will have to see what happens next time I do a run or gym but it's the first time I've seen it record it like that.0

yes that is strange. hopefully just a one off?0

For any strength workout I would use the lower number anyway as strength training burns very little calories. If your tracker has an HR meter then this probably influences calorie numbers big time while it's not really related.
If you just sleep your calorie burn is close to your base metabolic rate. if you do something your calorie expenditure goes up. If you lift up a weight you burn calories for that. If you're done with your exercise you don't. However, your heartrate is still elevated from the exercise, yet this doesn't mean you still burn calories. That's why those trackers don't really work for strength training and overestimate.0
