 Is there a motivational group to try to get me back on track??? I have lost 100+ pounds 4 times!! This last time I started losing in October of 2008 at 283 pounds and in March of this year I weighed 120. that very day I left the doctors office & started eating! I haven't stopped since!! Today I'm weighing in at 188 pounds!!! Every day I start a new diet, but before the day is over I've eaten everything in sight hungry or not! I'm ok as long as I don't eat, but as soon as I eat I just can't make myself stop. It's like i'm making up for every day I followed my 1200 calorie diabetic weight loss plan. Would like to be in a group with like souls. I'm a 56 year old grandmother who stays at home taking care of 2 grandchildren, 10 & 3, who live with me. I think with my 5 ft 6.5 in frame that I need to just get to 130.... so that's 58 pounds to lose.
Thanks for any encourgment!

Don't look at it like a diet because the word "Diet" carries a negative view of it. This is a lifestyle change. You need to change how you live your life. You know what you need to do - you've had awesome success in the past. Don't wait until tomorrow - start fresh today. If you know you'll eat junk - don't have it in the house (I did that when I first started - stopped buying junk so I wouldn't have access to it). If you don't feel like you can change it all at once - do it slowly. Start logging your food here - even if you log the good, the bad AND the ugly. Log it. Be HONEST with yourself when you log. Don't be afraid to log that candy bar you had - make your diary private and then YOU are the only one with access. That way you can be completely and totally honest with yourself and won't worry about judgement.

    YOU CAN DO IT!

Please don't be so upset. You lost sooo much weight and you don't want to put it all back on. Have you set up your food diary yet so you can track your food. Maybe if you see what you are eating you will be able to either cut-back or make healthier food choices. Good Luck...You can do it!!

    Just do it.

Seriously. Own your choices and make better ones.

Surround yourself with people and systems that will keep you honest because, really, all that matters at the end of the day is YOU. Find your self-control.

    Good luck!

To loose that much over and over is amazing haha I am struggling to loose it just once. That being said maybe you should look into a support group or counseling or dietitian in your area as well as on MFP. You obviously have the power to loose the weight its the eating it back after that is getting you, the maintenance part. There a re a lot of people on here who are in the maintenance phase so give them a look too even before you are back at your goal weight. This might help you prepare better for that part of the journey. You also might want to really get into exploring why you eat even when not hungry. Form e it was boredom and being unhappy. Good luck!

You may want to consider seeing a counselor to talk about the reasons you eat - I know it's helped me TREMENDOUSLY and she's given me the tools to move forward. Just a suggestion, but it's really helped me! Good luck!

  • You are not alone in this. Many of us, myself included, have lost and gained the same weight for years.

What you need to do is start by not having the tempting food around you that you tend to splurge on. Fill your refrigerator with fresh fruit and veggies, lean chicken and fish. Have baby carrots, cut up celery...those types of foods prepared ahead. When you have an "itch" and head for the fridge, those foods are readily available to help you through those times of "need". You won't splurge on bad calories and you will be very surprised at how much you can eat and still be lower in calories. It's those "convenience foods" that wreck it for all of us. It's all about preparing ahead and making choices. The grandkids can make healthy choices along with you. Make it fun...have them help you prepare the food ahead of time. Look for some fun (and light) recipes to make together. My kids always loved the crinkle-cut carrots. Fruit salads are a hit and so is Lite Jello and Lite Cool Whip...not to mention the Lite Popcorn.

I also find that exercising later in the day helps me. My worst times are right after supper until bedtime. I am always thinking "what can I eat now?". Have supper, then go for a nice walk, do something fun and active. Or you can do this at suppertime for 1-1.5 hours. When you get home you will feel recharged. When you eat your supper later on you may find you won't binge at nightime as often (if you're like me).

You can do this.....you just have to make sure you keep a diary (food, exercise and also one to jot down your feelings when you have "the urge"). And stay in touch on here. We can all help each other.
