Advice in forums can vary wildly in validity. If you're unsure what to do, it's best to ask your doctor or meet with a Registered Dietitian.
If it were me, i'd get to my ideal weight (through a calorie deficit of course), keep carbs moderate, and exercise almost daily.
Try searching the forum for other opinions.3 -
Also recommend putting yourself under advice of Dietitian.
There are a lot of Diabetic cookbooks in your local library. Actually, the diabetic diet is quite yummy, too me. I think nothing is actually forbidden, but you've got to monitor balance. The dietician will ensure you learn that balance.1 -
Losing even twenty pounds will make a huge difference.
Start eating like a diabetic. This means eating on a schedule at the same time every day and portioning out your food to be balanced.
Practicing putting a plate together was the most important tip I got in the early days.

I also logged all my meals for a couple months so when I sat with a dietitian we could have an informed discussion.4 -

The beat advice I can give is meet with a Registered Dietician and/or take nutrition classes from a Certified Diabetic Educator. As pre-diabetic you don't need to be as aggressive as someone with full blown diabetes but learning to eat like a diabetic is good, just know that you have more leeway.2 -
Several years ago, my Dr told me I had insulin resistance. I had the discoloration around my neck & chest area. I was overweight at 215lbs. I lost weight, currently 170lbs, adapted a healthier diet, and exercise regularly. Prediabetic should be a warning for u to get itself together so I doesn't turn into diabetes. Or at least delaying the onset. U may have a genetic disposition for it no matter what you do, but losing weight may stall it for a few years2
