Curious about the Keto diet - questions inside

Hi,
For about the last two years I've sort of had a high protein diet. My macros were something like 40-45% protein, 25% fat and 30-35% carbs. I've done relatively well. I went from 385 to about 260 in a little over a year. Since then I've been gaining weight and then losing it again. I am up from my low and feeling frustrated. Figure it is time to try something new. Anyway, my question is, is the Keto diet great only for weight loss or is it a diet for all around fitness including body building (if you want that option)? Is it safe? What people would be at risk being on this diet?
Thanks

Keto is high fat, not high protein. Keto is safe as long as you get in all the nutrition you need. Keto is effective if you like that way of eating.0

https://ketogains.com/ is about body building using keto, not really my interest area.
Your credibility with the gym crowd may be at risk, beyond that nobody has managed to find a specific issue with carbohydrate restriction other than routine nutritional and health requirements to eat enough micronutrients etc.0 -
I am doing my first stint of real keto and am enjoying it. However I don't feel that it fits with the real world very well as most resturants/social occassions etc all have carbs.1

The only issue with body building would be that some keto recommendations are quite low protein and it's, if anything, even more important to keep protein at a decent level. (Check the links here: http://caloriesproper.com/protein-ketosis-and-lean-mass/)
Lots of people do it for maintenance, and I see no reason why it would not be safe, although I'd of course monitor how you feel and keep vegetables in your diet.
Some find carbs are important for their overall feelings of energy and well-being, even after being keto-adapted, and some do not, so it just depends on what works for you. If interested, I'd try it.0
