I have a 500 calorie deficit.
I burned 300 calories.

Which one is more important.

They are the same. If the calories burned are after the deficit then you are now -800. otherwise it is just part of that -500 deficit.

For weight loss, your calorie deficit matters. For fitness, health, and a joyful life, exercise matters.

    .......(Calories out) ............ (Calories in).......
Total calories burned - total calories eaten = deficit

The deficit is what determines weight loss.

If you started with a 500 calorie deficit and then burned an additional 300 exercise calories without eating them back, you actually have an 800 calorie deficit.

What do you mean by "I have a 500 calorie deficit?" Is that the target you've set up in MFP, or are you 500 calories under your goal for the day?
