help! i need motivation to get started

please help to get me off the couch and into fitness mode! any suggestions will be appreciated :neutral:

    Figure out "why" you want to do this and get started. Make small changes.

    Figure out what you can commit to. You have to have that for the days when you don't feel so motivated to do things. Commit to a particular exercise, or eating 1 or 2 or 3 good meals a day, something that you know will stick for those days when the motivation isn't there.

    The good news is you don't have to exercise to lose weight. As others have said, make small changes to ease into this so you are not overwhelmed and want to quit. Work on the reasons behind your weight so you can be happy and sustain a loss. Work on experimenting with foods you can fit in your calorie goals while keeping you healthy and not ready to raid the fridge. You can incorporate fitness when you feel comfortable. You should enjoy the transformation, not suffer.

    Have you tried watching some motivational videos on youtube, or better yet, listen to your favourite upbeat music to get the adrenaline flowing?

    Get out of bed. Put on your workout clothes. Open your door. Go outside. Take a walk, or drive to your gym. It's a habit you can sustain, you just have to start.

    The motivation I got was a kick in the pants in the form of a chronic obesity-related complication. Looks like I needed a stick more than a carrot to get going. Please don't make my mistake. Find your reason to lose and keep it in mind.

    Start small. Start writing down everything you eat for a day or two; if it causes you shame, if you wish to hide what you're eating from yourself (speaking uh, for a friend), you know you're on the right path. The point isn't to shame you into change; the point is just helps to increase your mindfulness of your habits; we don't always realize how our little habits add up.

    Second, is there something you've ALWAYS wanted to do? A trip you've wanted to take or an event you wanted to participate in? It helps to have a long-term goal that keeps you motivated, because the day-to-day will be pretty mundane as far as results go. Whether it is a strength goal, an endurance goal, a social occasion you don't want to miss out on... find something several months out to look forward to.
