The Chill Accountability Crowd

Hi.
This is a post for relaxed, non-agressive, super chill MFP folk who want to feel more accountable for their food diaries.
Basically all you gotta do is:
Please please please please: NO SHAMING or GULIT-TRIPPING your fellow chill accountability MFP folk!!!
Everyone has good days and bad days. It's part of the process. There is no pressure, no judgment, no rigid rules, no obligations. This post is all about casual, friendly encouragement and support for your good health. Always feel free to make changes in your diet and lifestyle for the better. Keep an open mind. Be kind to yourself and others.
You don't have to be highly active in the MFP community to participate. You can make a comment on this thread daily, weekly, monthly... essentially anything that serves you well. I'm not a very active community member, but I like to drop by now and then. Others out there are MFP community super stars and no doubt will show up with wisdom and golden advice just when you need it.
If you like this idea, let others take a peak at your food logging. Simply knowing you're participating in a "group" will encourage you to do your best. You don't have to officially friend anyone or wait to be accepted in order to be here. Just set your food diary to "public" so others can see how things are going.
Setting your food diary to "public" will make it easy to share at the start of your comments. Simply enter the following URL:
http://www.myfitnesspal.com/food/diary/YOUR_USERNAME_HERE
For example, my user name is Summer_Tulip and my sharable diary URL looks like this:
http://www.myfitnesspal.com/food/diary/Summer_Tulip
Once you do this, then you're logging for everyone and anyone to see! Don't worry. You can make mistakes and learn as you go.
Lastly, don't feel like this is some type of forever-committed deal. If you wanna hop on this thread and try it out, cool. If you're not into it, then you can always set your diary back to private (or whatever setting you prefer).
Cheers!

I'll start.

Introducing myself here with my little plan.
I just wanna stay reasonably close to my overall daily calorie goal on a consistent basis. I used MFP to come up with a calorie goal to lose at a rate of 1lb/week. Not hung up on macros. (To each their own.) I like to eat healthy whole foods, but also like some processed junk, so you'll see a bit of everything in my diary.
Every now and then I'm fine with having a high-calorie day, but I would like to space them out a couple weeks each time. Since my last such day was yesterday, that means I'd like 2-ish weeks to pass before my next one.
I guiltlessly eat back my exercise calories for sure. And I will continue to. Knowing I can eat my burns motivates me to do more physical activity.5 -
Hi!
http://www.myfitnesspal.com/food/diary/ohnonotcrystal
I am strictly a calorie counter. It's what works for me. I like the idea of a group where no one is going to tell me what I "should" be doing I eat lots of things, processed, fresh, white, and whole wheat. No big deal right now as long as I'm making my calories.
My MFP is set at -2lb a week. I don't eat back workout calories currently because I haven't felt the need to (my daily calories are like 1700). I don't mind going a couple hundred over my count some days if I'm actually hungry, though.
I am excited to check in with others and be positive!7 -
Awesome! Welcome aboard. Your diary is lovely!

Thanks! I admire how you log your diet sodas. I don't do that yet.1
-
Haha. I wouldn't have usually tracked it, but I figured since ppl might be looking I'd try to include everything ("try" being the key word).2

Hello! I'm panda.
http://www.myfitnesspal.com/food/diary/pandam00n
I am excited to see this thread! I wonder if there is a way to formally create a group for this purpose?
I'm relatively new to MFP, and have been excited about it! I'm stoked to not be stuck with trying to write a food diary like I have in the past, lol. Hooray for technology! \o/
I have my good days and my "bad" days - but having the ability to really observe what and how I am eating is exciting. My initial goal when I started here was to see exactly how much I was eating so that I could transition into teaching myself better habits. Using this app has helped me to already become more aware of what I am putting into my body, I love it!
Most of my foods consist of vegetables; however, technically I am pescatarian (since ~2009), so occasionally I will have fish (sushi!!!). I'm definitely prone to eating junk food and processed things but I am trying to work toward having a better relationship with fresh foods!
At the moment I do not own a food or bathroom scale, but I am moving soon so I plan to invest in these items to provide myself with more accuracy once I'm there
Thanks for starting this thread and I look forward to making some buddies here.6 -
Welcome aboard, panda! The thread is gaining momentum!1

Morning!
http://www.myfitnesspal.com/food/diary/Summer_Tulip
Yesterday I kinda overdid it... gotta do better! I was thinking of setting my goal lower since I always overeat, but then i figured just work at staying close to the original daily goal.3 -
I find that nuts are a killer. Even though I know they are healthy and I like them, I just can't keep them around in large quantities because they are too calorie-dense and I will eat all of them! Good luck today.
My Vacation Plans
I am home most days now because I am a teacher and I don't go back to work until late August. But I am going on vacation for 9 days with my family starting June 22. Last night I sat down and planned out my meals.
We will be kind of trapped in a hotel/resort out in the middle of nowhere (it is 45 minutes to a Subway or a Wal-mart, to give you an idea. I live on a 10-acre farm in the middle of a bunch of bigger farms and I can still walk to a Subway if I'm up for a 2 mile walk). And a mini-fridge does not hold 9 days worth of food, especially not when sharing with 3 other people. So I went to the grocery store last week and investigated options. What I found was some useful stuff in addition to my usual pantry groceries: canned chili, pre-buffaloed canned chicken, shelf-stable milk. Lots of fruit can also live for a while outside of the fridge.
My meal plan is about 200 calories under my goal each day, allowing me to sub in a higher calorie option for a snack, or replace a meal and a snack if we go out to one of the hotel restaurants. I am going to pre-proportion things as much as I can to make it easy to grab, because the point of us going to this thing is to play board games and hang out with friends, not weigh chicken endlessly. This will be my first time actually trying to stick to a plan on vacation, rather than just saying "Ah, it's vacation! Let's live a little!"
The hotel has a very sad little gym but does have some awesome walking opportunities. I am thinking of having my fitness guru mom teach me some free weight exercises I can do, or maybe I'll just do bodyweight stuff. It might be fun to do yoga on the hotel balcony!
Has/is anyone else going on vacation? Did you think about your fitness plan?6 -
That sounds like a great plan! I figured you meant to say that you're leaving on July 22, not June. Very nicely thought out!
I have a small trip coming up in September and I'm trying to wrap my head around what I'm gonna do. Probably just do the best I can while I'm out there. It's a family wedding event so there's definitely gonna be food and I might just be kinda free during that time, but still track as best I can.
Nuts are super hard to control. Agreed. Peanut butter is my other tricky food... I mean, who eats a whole jar in 2 days? (I do.)2 -
I'm all for a low-key accountability group
http://www.myfitnesspal.com/food/diary/MommaGem2017
I've gained and lost a few times over after having two kids, but never got back to pre-children weight. While balancing work (desk job), kids and study, I'm just doing my best to track, keep some sort of balance to what I eat, and move.
@ohnonotcrystal Wishing you the best for your vacation. You seem to have a solid plan in the works. I hope you get some good fun and relaxation too I have a class reunion coming up at the end of the month and I'd like to have some balance of social eating without completely overdoing it.2 -
@MommaGem2017 Hi and welcome! (I have a desk job also. I relate.)0
-
Some days I get so caught up in what I'm doing that I literally have to set the alarm on my phone to get up and move. Time can speed by so fast!1

I love this idea. Thanks for starting the thread! I've been on and off MFP since having my first baby about 6 years ago. I lost the first round of weight, had another kid, and I'm now stuck about 25lbs from my pre-baby goal weight, so, I'm trying to get myself back in the habit of eating mindfully, making good choices, and holding myself accountable.
I, too, have a desk job, though I have an adjustable standing desk so I usually stand for part of the day. My gym is across the street and so I'm getting back into my habit of lunch break workouts. However, sticking to a healthy eating plan has ALWAYS been my weakest link, so I'm happy for a supportive group. I'm going kind of low-key on my other social medias about trying to lose weight, sometimes announcing it makes it too big a deal. So this whole thread is awesome.
I'm working on curbing my sweet tooth, drinking more water, and cutting out the junk food. Cheers to Monday and a healthy week!3 -

This is me! Exactly! First child will be 6 in 6 weeks and 25 lbs to go after child #2 was born (she's 4).

I just started back on MFP. I have been doing a few different diets for the last few years. Let me tell you my head was spinning. Right now, I'm just trying to get back in the swing of eating whole, healthy food. And having some cheats in moderation. (Except for my gummy bears). Hey, I'm on a kick ok. It shall pass. I've been cutting brush and hauling the last few days for about 3 hours a day. Not sure how to log that. Summer-Tulip enjoy your vacation. If your too strict with yourself and you come home and for some reason fall off the wagon your going to wish you had that desert or whatever you passed up on vacation. Vacations are for fun. So do the best you can and enjoy!

@MommaGem2017 once again, I relate! Lol
@KatieTee83 welcome! Food has always been my downfall as well. Just doing our best here. No need for perfect eating to eat healthy. You got this.
@Mizzy58 welcome aboard! and thank you for the encouragement, though it's actually @ohnonotcrystal who is almost on vacation. And I hope she enjoys hers! (Mine is further out)
@pandam00n hope you're doing well!
In fact, hope everyone is doing well! I can already tell my day is not gonna be a shining example of optimum nutrition, but it's better than it was yesterday! I figure small improvements add up in the long run. Just taking it day by day.2 -
Oh and @Mizzy58 ...gummy bears are made of happiness and spring rainbows, so they're totally worth it.0
-
Finally closed my diary without eating everything on the planet today. That was an accomplishment for me2
-
Nicely done!
I am finishing today better than yesterday but still missed the mark. Tomorrow is slightly pre-planned and prepped so hopefully that'll help.0 -

@Summer_Tulip Yeah, I'm awful with dates. I just nearly added that to my work email signature when a colleague reminded me about some summer assessments I volunteered to forgive. Whoops. Thanks for the encouragement.
@MommaGem2017 Thanks for the encouragement. I have had some recent victories with social eating (gave myself a free pass at a 4th of July barbecue and overate by . . . 150 calories or so. Not really a free-for-all after all. So I'm beginning to make some good choices. All that to say, I think you can accomplish your goals at your reunion. About moving . . . my Fitbit is the only reason I remember to move at all for much of the day. It shakes my wrist and demands steps from me hourly.
@Mizzy58 I struggle with, you know, what's the word? Oh yeah--EATING ALL THE THINGS. If I gave myself a free pass on a 9-day vacation, I would start with 4 consecutive McDonald's breakfasts. And then wonder what to have for morning snack. And mid-morning snack. And then pre-lunch. I am a serious, dedicated, trained, overeater. Also, save me some gummy bears. They are the best. And I think there is a "yard work" dealie in the exercises you can choose, although cutting brush is a little more strenuous.
My stuff: I ate within my calorie goals for three weeks straight as of yesterday! I made it to the gym again, sticking to my plan. I ran 1/3 of a mile altogether (intervals). One day I will run a full mile. My shins and ankles kill when I run because I am smashing them into the road or a treadmill regularly. I am told they will stop being sore after a while. I also did weights. I am not as anxious about going back to the gym now that I have been a couple times. I am happy that the weather looks OK today as I have a 3 mile walk scheduled and would rather do it outside than in the gym.

Hello all. Here is mine.
myfitnesspal.com/food/diary/greoryg
Nice post to start. Feel free to see what I've been up to. Started Keto on July 3rd. Don't mind dinner for the 9th... decisions were made - poorly.3 -
Hi I would like to join your group, don't know how to put link to my menus but they are set to open if you want a nosey. You will see that I'm a snacker and it's usually sweet things, was on track for a good day until I spotted flapjack and wasted 300+ calories. Finding it had to be consistently good and no motivation for exercise.
The kids beak up from school soon for the summer and that is always a challenging time.2 -
Cool. I'll play.

I suck at logging, so I need some accountability. If you see any days on my diary that are like, 700 calories under, that doesn't mean I didn't eat after lunchtime. It means I didn't log after lunchtime.
Of course, today isn't a good day to start, probably. I've been craving pizza, so I'm having pizza for lunch. The calorie input is a total crapshoot, because the pizza place in my building is a mom and pop and has no nutritional information.2 -
@ohnonotcrystal you're CRUSHING IT!!! Nice work!
@greoryg Hello! Keto is legit, I've tried it before and felt great! Welcome.
@Sharonl71 I have a major sweet tooth as well. Have you ever tried Halo Top ice cream?! So good. Welcome!
@JeepHair77 no worries and no pressure! Log best you can and enjoy the ride. And enjoy your pizza! Nice to have you here.0 -

Good morning, good morning! I am highly caffeinated today Started off this morning with a brisk walk. It's a busy day today, so I'll have to be spot on to get in my steps and eat on time.1

Good morning!! I have lost 16.6 lbs.. Only 41.6 lbs to go!
I don't always eat as "healthy" as I probably should, but I gotta live a little! Feel free to add me, or poke around in my diary.
