What is your goal? Toning means losing fat to reveal muscle, so in that case...you'd want to lose fat, and weight train to save muscle. Triceps can be hit really well just doing compound lifts. For accessory work, I'll do anything for triceps...I like skull crushers, but I'll use cables and machines too.

exactly this! you can't "tone" a muscle...if you are wanting to build muscle stuff like close grip bench press is great, but you'll need to lose fat if you want to reveal the muscle.

I almost always prefer free weights dumbbells, barbells (with compound lifts), to machines as they, free weights, engage more muscles in their use.

I use a combination of both as well. Lately I have been using TRX, as I found that this engaged both my triceps and core.

there are a zillion tricep exercises. Google them and do a handful of different ones a couple times a week, i do them in the 8-10 rep range for hypertrophy. i use the bar, cable machine, dumbells, bands, trx, and just about anything. As long as you are focusing on your tricep muscles they'll get the workout.

Despite the general consensus on this forum, You don't have to lose fat to have toned arms . that's a personal decision based on the aesthetic look you want to achieve, or how you want to feel. For me, i'm happy with my pumped up triceps under my layer of body fat. . Personally I don't care for how women's arms look when they are super low body fat. Lowering body fat is not always the answer to everything.

Push ups. No equipment needed and you'll work a bunch of other stuff at the same time.
