Talk about deflating!
Since March I've been losing weight at a steady pace
But I never owned a scale
I weighted myself on a scale we had at the fitness center once a week
So I got my new toy...calibrated it, and now I'm 6 lbs heavier
Oh...and by the way, I'm also a inch and a half shorter...
any more bad news?

I know how you feel, my home scale is the worst, I hop on, it gives me one weight, hop off and back on, it adds 3lbs, do it again, it adds 2 more pounds or drops 1, there's no rhyme or reason.0

I'd say it's defetive take it back....LOL0

Your scale is defective! Take it back and get another.0

Repeat after me..."I weigh the same as I did before I got on this scale". You have lost the same amount of weight. Perhaps now you are hopefully seeing it on an accurate device/or maybe it's even defective. Hey...you may have been bummed out from the beginning...because when you started you were 6 pounds heavier than you thought you were. Perhaps you would not even have started down the road to fitness.
It's all good. It's just a number. Keep up the good work!! The important numbers are the ones that show up in your bloodwork and the way you feel.0 -
My scale did this too. I ALMOST returned it because I was convinced it was defective (It was the last one on the shelf, that's what I blamed it on) But it's just different scales are calibrated differently0

Well, if your gym has a slider-type scale, IT might actually be wrong. The gym I worked at for several years had a scale in each changing room (Mens/Womens) and both consistently read 4lbs heavier than they should have. My boss was the fitness coordinator and had them calibrated several times, but they insisted on being wrong and stupid. So, there's a chance both scales are wrong, who knows? I'd say find a friend with a scale and see whether IT matches the gym or the home one.
Also, someone suggested to me once to go to Bed Bath & Beyond and go down the row of "tester" scales and average the outcomes. That way you can know for sure whether one (or both) of the numbers you have been getting is/are wrong. Good luck!0 -
No don't have it discourage you! When you weigh yourself make sure you use the same scale because every scale is different so don't worry0

one question, how many ppl at the gym use that same scale on a daily basis. and how old is it? its more likely that the gym scale is out of wack (not working properly)
I had that issue with my doctors scale but the reverse..... my doctors scale said I was 221 lbs, but my home scale that same morning said I was 198 lbs. I went back to the doc's two weeks later. and they weighed me again on a brand new scale. and a mircle happened. the doc's scale was right on with my home scale....
over use, causes scales to fail, and wear out... do yourself a favor, and save some time and money. trust your home scale, and don't take it back to be exchanged. more than likely the next home scale, will tell you the same thing.0
