How much weight does measurement loss equal to?

Hi, I have supposedly lost 17 lbs total in 5 weeks according to the scale since joining MFP, but I now see how the scale fluctuates quite a bit and is inaccurate. We have a good quality weight watchers digital scale, so it isn't that. It consistently reads that I've lost weight, and then gained. I know not to weigh myself too often. I've also learned not to trust the scale and try to rely on measuring given that is normal for the body to fluctuate in weight throughout the month even when net calories are proper all month.

So, does anyone know how to gauge actual weight loss per inch for someone not gaining much muscle mass? I work out regularly, but no intense bodybuilding, and I am a woman, so I know that there is water weight to consider, and I cant gain more than a pound a month in muscle.

I've been tracking my measurement loss for about 3 weeks and in that amount of time I've lost approximately 1/4 inch-neck, 2 inches waist, and 2 inches hips.

Your scale isn't necessarily wrong. A human body's weight flucuates from hour to hour and day to day.

I'm not sure you can measure loss of lb to inch .. it will be different for all bodies and the body drops weight evenly across the entire body. However, "they" say that for every 10lbs you drop .. you should drop a clothing size. I dunno if that helps you!

I think it's different for everybody. In 10 months - I've lost 24 pounds and overall about 8 inches. I'm not sure you can measure losses like that. Just keep in mind that your weight fluctuates at times. I always try to weigh myself at the same time, on the same day, under the same conditions (ie, I weigh in every Sunday morning in a public place, so I try to always wear the same clothes, take my shoes off, etc.) I don't trust my scale at home because I move it from one place to another on my bathroom floor and I have a 2-3 pound fluctuation! Actually, now my scale at home is used to weigh luggage when I go on vacation. I step on, see what it says I weigh, and then someone hands me the suitcase and I calculate the difference to make sure I don't end up paying a fortune for luggage at the airport. That's the most action my scale at home gets anymore.

Clothing size- True! I have gone down about almost 2 clothing sizes- which makes sense for the 17 lb loss. I went from a 14-16 to an 11-12 depending on cut of jeans. I guess that could be good enough for me! I'll be happy as heck when I get down into the single digits!
