Welcome to MFP, this is my before and after if sorts. I started at 244 at 43 and now I'm still pretty close to that but about 166 currently. My goal was 144 but at 146 I didn't look like I was healthy. I started just by trying to make changes that I could really live with and getting active. Now I will be the first one to say I would never be a gym bunny but that's exactly what I became. I love working and seeing what my body can accomplish. I would suggest taking your time, being honest with yourself, logging everything that goes in your mouth. Getting active, start slow and do something you like. Don't focus on what you think you can't do or accomplish- it can and will happen when you are ready.
Chat with MFP pals, real life pals may change over time. But remember this is all about you, only you have control over this and your worth it.
Best Wishes.63 -

I'm 5'2" and 58 yrs old. My highest weight was 188 several years ago. I dropped down to the 170's for several years and was even down in the 150-155 range for a short year. This year I've changed my life eating habits and the weight is coming off slow and steady. The first picture was Feb 2017 at 160 pounds. The second is in May 2017 at 140 pounds. The last picture is the most recent 134. My goal is 120.29

Hey there! I started out at 180, which was my highest weight. It's been a couple years (and a couple kids!), but I managed to get down to 147 so far. My GW is 130. Believe me...I love food more than anyone I know and if I can do this, so can you!

Hey there! I'm 5'2" exactly and I've lost about 60-ish pounds . my highest ever weight was 240, though I was around 210 in this before picture.
I'm not done--still have about 20-30 lbs to lose. I took two years off of weight loss (we moved to Germany and I wanted to experience that without worrying as much about calories) but I'm back on the trail now. add me if you'd like.40 -
5'3". SW 208, CW 142. Before and after are in profile pic. You can add me.5

Everyone looks so much younger in their "after" pics! Just more energetic and glowy. (also I def get carded more now than I did when I was heavier!)8

YOU ALL LOOK GREAT THANKS FOR THE MOTIVATION LADIES ❤️0

Left: June 2015, 175 lbs
Middle: October 2016, 114 lbs
Right: July 2017, 118 lbs (ate more and focused on weight lifting)
I've done the yo-yo dieting thing more times than I can count. This time I took it slowly, learned to cook well, tried out different ways of being active before deciding what I enjoy. I never quit when I got to my goal, I just added in some calories for maintenance (and then more to add muscle) and kept logging/exercising.78 -
5'3" here.
It's been a long journey for me.

gW-124. Determined to make it this time. Baby weight doesn't want to come off easily (I'm still nursing). I got a food scale and it's been life changing.17 -
You ladies are so inspiring!! Thanks for posting! I have a question though. Since we're all roughly 5'2"-5'3", what was your total calories amount while losing? I'm confused if mine should be 1280 or 1500? Not sure if I'm sedentary or lightly active. I was losing the first few weeks but now I'm not. I was trying to stick to around 1425 calories but I'm wondering if that's too high. 1280 seems low but maybe that's what I should be at. Thanks!2

I'm on the low side (am 5') and average about 1200. If it were me, I'd lower and see how it goes. It really is trial and error at first to see how it goes, and there isn't a lot of wiggle room when you're little. I'd also recommend some extra, new activity: burning 100 calories / day (which is maybe walking for 20 or 30 minutes depending on your weight and speed) really adds up over time and can make a difference with the scale -- if you don't eat those 700 / week back, of course. Good luck!5 -
Hi there,
Congrats on starting your journey! I'm 40 years old, 5'1 (and 3/4, but who's counting) and started out at 217lbs. I started to take back my life on December 7, 2016 after many many failed attempts. I knew I needed to do something or I would die. I didn't feel good and I had no energy to play with my kids. I knew I was setting a piss poor example for my children and it was now or never. My one grandma died at 49, my other one at 53 and my father at 57....all from things that could have been avoided if they took better care of themselves and I wasn't willing to follow in their footsteps.
I started eating right, but not forgetting to treat myself every now and then. I also started working out 4-5 days a week doing high intensity interval training and lifting. I have a bad back, bad knees, and had a hip replacement at age 15 (had a tumor in my hip socket) so I had to modify things for a while until my strength and endurance improved. I have PCOS and Hashimoto's disease (autoimmune disease which attacks the thyroid). I had to focus on nutrition and experimenting with new ingredients that I'd never used before. I had to completely change my relationship with food, but most importantly, I had to change my relationship with myself.
I'm now 146lbs and continue to strive for health rather than a number. I can starve myself and be thin, or I can take care of myself and be happy.
Good luck to you and keep up the good work!

Good Morning......I'm 5'2 and at my heaviest I was 148lb. 21/2 years ago I jumped on the Beach Body 21 Day fix program and had great success. I got down to 122lb. I maintained this for over a year, but then some pretty hard life events happened and the next thing I know I'm back up to 146. Like I mentioned before, I had great success with the 21 Day Fix program, but I was working out 6 days a week. Working a full time job as a cake decorator and then running a home based Decorated Sugar Cookie business plus taking care of my family (side note.....if I can do this being around sweets all day you can do this! lol) Anyway.....after being introduce by a friend to the Ketogenic Diet I did research and have been doing it for 2 weeks now and I have dropped 6lbs so far without even working out. Basically it is a low carb, moderate protein and high fat way of eating. It went against a lot of the ways I have known to be correct in the past so it was a little hard getting use to. I found lots of information on You Tube and Pinterest about the Keto Diet. A lot of benefits to it. MFP is a great tool because you have to track your macros and this app is great for that. The pictures attached are my before and after........from my first weight loss. I will post my before and after's since on the Keto Diet once I get a full month in.
I have started incorporating running 2 days a week back into my weekly routine and a third day of a workout video along with 10 minute ab workout almost every day. Shall see how this goes.
Good luck to everyone on their journey....I'm very inspired by the post that have come before mine.
Have a great Sunday!

I'm 31 years old. My highest weight, shown in the photo on the left, was 310lbs, summer 2011. The photo of me on the right is of my current weight, about two weeks ago, 175 lbs. It's not an easy road if you don't change your relationship with food and fitness. They're lifestyle changes, not temporary ones. That's the hardest part of all, tbh.18 -
