Hi everyone! My name is Tyler, and here I go again trying to lose some weight. I've tried off and on for most of my life, starting at age 15. I'm currently 23. I've done it all: low-carb, low-fat, dairy free, Weight Watchers, Atkins; you get the picture.

I failed at all of these because I convinced myself that I wasn't THAT overweight. It wasn't until, a few days ago, a series of events happened that seem to have finally woken me up. To start, my boyfriend and I were flying home from visiting my parents in California, and the plane seat physically could not contain me. I had to request a seatbelt extender from the flight attendant, and that experience was truly mortifying.

The second event that woke me up: I am struggling to fit into my 2XL shirts. That's crazy. To this point, I have been able to avoid the Big and Tall section, and I will not start now.

It's time to kick myself into shape. Here we go, this time it has to stick. I hate being this large, and I refuse to continue this way.

I am so excited for the support I have seen just reading through the forums here. I have a long way to go and I am excited to share this journey with others who truly get where I am coming from.

Welcome aboard!! I can definitely relate in that I've tried EVERY diet out there with no success until I committed to MFP. My biggest advice is to be consistent, not extreme, and you'll get there for sure. Best of luck to you!

Best of luck to you. I was pretty much in the same place. Could barely fit into 2XL shirts.

I have so been there and still often find myself here. I've always dealt with being overweight since highschool and then stopped eating much at all and was too skinny and unhealthy. Now my goal is of course a number but mostly, comfortable and strong. I'd love to see myself in a photo and not cringe and want to crawl behind a rock. You've got this! We can do it!

I think the issue with those programs you tried is they are diets. I've only been successful when I decide to change my habits permanently, and this site is perfect for that. There is tons of support here to be had.
