I think a stability ball workout is a great idea! Or maybe something with a BOSU ball if people if people have one?
With a stability ball some moves I like to do are crunches on the ball or holding a plank position wi my feet balanced on the ball. It really works your core muscles.

I don't really have anything like that but I did start Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred this week so I feel like that's stepping up my game!

Start weight: 225 lb starting MFP on 01/09/11
July goal wt: lose 10 lbs
    July 1: 190.5 lbs
    July 8: 192lbs (+1.5 lbs)

    July 22: 188.5 lbs (+/- 0) No change :(
    July 29: 188.5 lbs (+/- 0) No change :(

I've been stalled for half of the month. I have to admit though, i haven't made the best choices recently. I'm a huge stress eater and our family has been going through a horrbile time recently. The rough part is over so now I need to get my *kitten* into gear. I fit 2 workouts in last week so i'm hoping to continue this if not adding a third. I really need to concentrate on my diet as it went to hell. I ate a ton of fast food, yet amazingly stayed within my calorie goal on most days .
I promise to improve as we roll into August :)

You have done an AMAZING job!! The weight keeps falling off :)
    How is your exercise plan?
  • Sorry I haven't been active in the group lately, ladies! I just have not been in the right place mentally ... or with my workout, to really be an encouraging, uplifting member. I apologize.

I've gained like two pounds back. I don't know whether or not its because TOM is close by, or the fact that I've eaten horribly lately, or the fact that I haven't worked out at all lately. I'm just frustrated and totally plateaued. No bueno. There's no way I'm going to make my goal of 130 by the time school starts back unless I completely stop eating - not saying that the thought hasn't crossed my mind.

    Thanks!!!

My consistent workout is 45 treadmill minutes every day with varying incline and recently this week 30 Day Shred! I also work at a hotel so I am on my feet going back and forth from the front desk to the laundry room my entire shift plus folding all the hotel laundry (which really works up a sweat sometimes!)

I agree! You are definitely our big winner (loser) for July! :) I remember that you blogged a few weeks ago about a dress for a wedding and you were worried about size. At the rate you are going, that dress is going to be too big!

I know how you feel. In general, I've been doing the right things but the scale is not moving. My clothes are fitting better (or getting too big) and my fitness has definitely improved. However, it would be nice to see that scale budge a little, KWIM? I've gotten a little down about it the past week or so. I'm still hitting exercise hard because I really, really enjoy it. My whole family works out together so it's kind of a fun family time.

I gave myself permission to not worry about the diet part so much for this past week until Monday. I've eaten what I want when I want. My mom's birthday was Thursday and we took her out for an awesome Mexican dinner and dad's is Sunday and he wants to go out for Chinese food and ice cream. My oldest two work at a new Dairy Queen store and last night they had a "friends and family" night which means free ice cream. I had a peanut buster parfait ..... by far, the most calories I've consumed in one sitting in a LONG time, like years. I won't do it again anytime soon but it was a treat and I don't regret it. I think sometimes we (I) can get so obsessed with moving that scale that we (I) forget to enjoy life.

Maybe I just need to shake things up a bit? I've heard that a couple of high calorie days every once in a while can help things move again. That's what I'm hoping for, anyway.

You're down a total of 2 lbs for July (and probably more because, like you said, TOM is near). That's 1/2 lb a week ... which is really a good loss, considering how much you have left to lose. Those last 10 lbs are stubborn. Don't be discouraged. Just keep at it. And don't quit eating. You've got to fuel your body correctly. Otherwise, you risk injury when you're out there trying to up your running base. Just keep on keeping on. It's going to take a little longer than you planned but you've got this, girl!! :)
  • Thanks Capt, you're always so encouraging. (:

I am so sorry that I haven't been around the way you guys need me to be. I feel like part of the reason why the thread is not as successful as it could be is because I haven't been the best faciliator. My life has been very complicated lately and I haven't been able to focus on my weight loss goals like I would have liked to. Please bare with me as I get through this very trying time in my life.
  • I was back down to 134 this morning? Oddly enough, TOM is here. So confusing. Haha. I have been eating a LOT better lately.

i always lose weight then... after looking around on the forums I see that's the opposite of common.

I always lose weight when TOM rolls around. The hormones in my birth control pills play a large role in this fluctuation though.

I'm not on birth control, but I was down to 132 this morning! What is going on, dear body? Haha. I mean, not that I don't appreciate it, I feel like its definitely not right. I don't know if its because of TOM or because my scale might be a P.O.S.

So are we all riding this group through August? I'm seeing fewer and fewer posts :(

I would love to continue on. I am sorry I haven't been participating and being a good leader. Things are almost back to normal now. It was really crazy these past few weeks as my daughter was in art camp and I was helping her with her performances. She goes back to school on the 15th and I will be so happy to get back in a normal rhythm.

My weight for 8/5 was 163.8 so I am heading in the right direction.

Does anyone have any ideas for challenges? I found a nice site that has 10 exercises that you can do from home.
    http://www.fitwatch.com/exercise/10-ways-you-can-exercise-at-home-without-any-equipment-10.html

maybe we can incorporate them in our daily lives and try to burn an extra 100 calories per day. It will all add up by the end of the week and maybe help the scale a little !

Thank you everyone for all your patience and support!
  • I'm definitely all for sticking with this through August! (:
Small non-scale victory yesterday... I tried on a pair of size 4 shorts in American Eagle ... and they fit! I was so happy. They were a little tight, but I bought them as encouragement for myself. Before to long ... they might even be LOOSE on me. Also, TOM is gone, and I weighed in at 132 this morning, wtf? :) Very happy. I'm keeping my eyes out for the next challenge, since I kind of missed the last ones
  • I'm still here. I haven't lost anything still but I haven't given up. I'm glad that things are settling a little for you, Leela. Things are starting to pick back up for me now. I worked band camp this past week, rehearsals starting 2-3x a week next week, and school starts on the 22nd.

    Garrett, WTG on your progress!

I'm still around! Small NSV yesterday. I was getting discouraged because even though I've lost so much weight and feel thinner in places, I've still been wearing the same pants with no difference. Well yesterday at Lollapalooza we were going back and forth from the two big stages which are what I'm guessing about a mile apart and by the end of the night I was literally holding my pants up so they didnt fall down haha Good but.... now I have no jeans to wear ! haha

Thanks girls, its so great to see you all here! So I don't know if it counts as a NSV moment, but last night, my daughter warmed my heart when she gave me a big hug and said Wow Mommy, you're getting so skinny!! I was grinning from ear to ear. Kids are brutally honest and this time it was in a positive way!
Also, I am still running for my race. I'm scared to death of that third mile. Today I did 2.35 miles. I had to cut it short because I knew I was having company over for breakfast.

What does everyone think about the exercise challenge?
I can't think of any new food challenges. :(
  • Exercise challenge looks good. Food challenge .... can't think of a new one either but maybe we could repeat one.
  • Hey all! I'm ready to get back on track. Vacation eating is hard, so I've got to get back on this!

When this group started, one of my goals was to work up to jogging. During the last month I kind of decided that I didnt want to do that and speed walking was just going to be my thing. After I found out a coworker had made a rude comment about running to another coworker who joined MFP after seeing my progress, I decided to give jogging a good minute try. Ended up jogging 7 minutes of my work out. I've never done that in my life, not even elementary school when we had to run a mile haha
  • WTG! You'll be a runner before you know it. ;-)
