I need some help with the 16/8 dieting strategy.

Hi everyone! I know this topic has been talked about to death, but I am either not able to find it or I'm failing miserably with the search function (probably the latter).
I am thinking of doing the 16/8 fasting method, and I believe I understand the basic idea of it. I am only really confused on one or two aspects:
I understand you fast for 16 hours and then eat during that 8 hour window. My first question: should I try to get in my daily recommendation from MFP (for me like 2000 calories) or just eat like normal and only hit between 1500 and 1800 (I eat most of my calories in the evening)?
My second question is how this pairs with exercise. Is there anything to keep in mind when exercising during that 8 hour window, as I usually work out in the afternoons?
Thanks all!

Your MFP goal includes the deficit that you chose when setting up your profile (.5, 1, 1.5, or 2 lbs per week) so you need to eat that number of calories plus your exercise calories (or at least a portion while you figure out how accurate they are for you.)
Exercise is up to you.
Keep in mind that 16/8 is an eating schedule, not a weight loss method. It doesn't change the requirements needed to lose weight.4 -
^ Yep.
As for exercise, it seems like the afternoon (like you do) would be great. You could get a little food in a couple hours beforehand, then work out, then continue eating after. I tried this a while back, but I was training early in the morning. I was soooooooo hungry by the time my eating window came, I was miserable.0 -

Check out the Intermittent Fasting group, there's lots of good info there on 16:8 and other fasting plans.0

Solid advice.
For me it is about meal timing. Knowing it is X amount of hours till my next meal has eliminated any snacking urges for me.
I scheduled it as 11am breakfast, 2pm lunch (right after I workout) small snack at 4:30, and dinner at 6:30.
But do what works for you. Ive been on 16:8 since mid January, with great success. Took a bit to get into the grove, but now it is very easy. Few days here and there getting to breakfast was a challenge, but only a handful.
