Lifting, cardio, both?

I've been on maintenance mode for the past 7 months or so. However, within the past few days I just realized that I need to lose about 3 more lbs to get a perfect fit for my wedding dress.
I only have 7 weeks to lose 3 lbs. What's the most efficient way to lose 3 lbs in 7 weeks? I am going back to 1200 cals a day too.
Should I do only cardio? Only strength training? A combination of both?
Thanks!

I would recommend a combination of both. I am no expert on the subject, but the most efficient way to lose the 3lbs will be to control your diet (and it already sounds like you are on top of that). However, there are benefits to both cardio and weight training. Cardio will burn more calories, and it does help create a leaner physique. However, strength training (especially endurance based resistance training) is the absolute best for reshaping your body (much better at this than cardio). So if you have the time and ability, I would recommend a good, clean diet and a combination of both cardio and strength training.
Hope you have a wonderful wedding and marriage!!0 -
I would say a combo also. Remeber to stay within your heart rate zone.0

I'll bet you in seven weeks you can use some kind of weight training circuit to really kill that dress. you may or may not lose any weight doing it this way, but who cares about 3 lbs one way or the other if you're lookin smokin!:smokin:
And by that I mean defined, and shredded!:happy:0 -
Three pounds in seven weeks? Oh good grief thats too un realistic...haha
You could probably do that in a week or two if you were strict enough with your eating. I don't know how tall you are but if you are eating 1200 cal a day then you are either super short or you calculated your calories wrong.
To answer your question, combine both. If you were to only do one or the other do weights because lifting weights is conditioning you for gains in strength and cardio vascular health improvements all in the same workout. Its pretty sweet if you ask me. Plus if you were to ONLY do cardio you would probably loose some of that lean muscle you have already gained from strength conditioning and you would look more soft than lean.0 -
Do both for sure! Cause remember each pound of muscle you gain can burn up to 50 extra calories a day. And don't weigh yourself as much as you should measure yourself. Muscle weighs more.0

First, I would not decrease the calories below your BMR. The increased cardio/ weights should take care of the extra 3 lbs. Try to work out daily until the big day. I agree that some weight training would help define your body so you would look even better in your wedding dress! Enjoy!!0
