Motivation?

Okay so I'm 6 weeks post partum from having my son, and I'm looking to lose 40 pounds but not all at once I want to set little goals as in 7-10 pounds a month to lose. My biggest goal I want to reward myself by going into the Air Force, but what do you guys use for motivation to keep you working out everyday & eating healthy? I wanna use my goal as motivation but it seems so far away and I'm tired of waiting I'm ready to get started.

Welcome! I understand that you want to lose weight as quickly as possible (everyone does, so you're not alone there), but I think it's also important not to set unrealistic goals so that we're not disappointed later. The amount of weight people are able to lose is dependent on how much they have to lose, and safe weight loss ranges from 0.5 pounds per week to 2 pounds per week for almost everyone (barring morbidly obese people, who MAY be able to lose more quickly at the beginning). If you only have 40 pounds to lose, a safe rate of loss is about 1-1.5 pounds per week, so a goal of 7-10 pounds per month is going to be really hard to hit (and it's going to be harder to hit as you get lighter). I don't mean to be discouraging, but I do want you to set achievable goals so that you're not disappointed later.
You mentioned you're 6 weeks post-partum; are you also breastfeeding? If so, please make sure you're not creating too big of a deficit, as that can impact your supply.0 -
I used the success of others to motivate me initially. Now I use the progress that me and my SO have made to keep it up. After two years of logging we have been able to keep off 120 and 72 lbs.
