Not loosing but gaining weight ;-(

Hi all, I've been following my fitness pal for ages now, last year I lost 14lb quite easy but gradually crept back on, I attend the gym 3x weekly and have also started spinning and box fit 2xa week for the past two weeks, I'm getting really down about not seeing any weight loss and hardly any inch loss, I've stopped the gym at one point but continued with my fitness pal to see if that would make a difference-and also shocked my body in stuffing it with anything I could eat for a few days, but nothing is shifting!!!! WHY? please anyone!!! Help me :-(

I would just keep exercising and inputting your food on here for another couple of weeks and see what happens. If you see the scale stop going up and you are certain it is fully functioning, go to your doctor as the weight gain in spite of all your efforts can be a symptom of something like low thyroid function.1

If your daily calorie goal is around 1,200 calories per day and you're exercising as well then there is no reason why you shouldn't be seeing results.
I have had a look at your diary and unless you didn't eat anything at all on 23rd July then you aren't logging what you eat correctly. There are some evening meals missed too over the past week.
You can lie to MFP but you can't lie to your body.
Weight loss takes time, be patient, and good luck!10 -
The Monday all I ate was homemade lentil soup I tried to keep my food very low that day, thanks for all the input and advice, I'll put it down to my age4

Well if you stopped exercise, but continued eating the same amount, maintenance or weight gain is to be expected. One day of eating only lentil soup is not going to help you in the long or short term. Either get back to going to the gym or cut the amount of calories you are eating. Your problem has nothing to do with age.1 -
You haven't said how much of a calorie deficit you are creating? You need to log every morsel consistently for 2 weeks - creating 500 cals a day deficit then come back and report.0

If I'm reading your post correctly, it's only been 2 weeks? And in that time you've gone through phases of starting/stopping the gym/workouts and stuffing yourself for a few days?

Did you log all that? "Shocking" your body isn't a thing and of course you gained weight after stuffing yourself for a few days! You got a lot of great advice from the previous posters. Be consistent, be honest with yourself, and be patient with yourself! Best of luck to you.10 -
Looking at your diary, no you are not logging correctly. You are not weighing everything that isn't a liquid. "1 piece", "half", "1 lin" etc are not valid accurate measurements.
You need to log and weigh everything, even prepackaged foods. You need to log fruits and vegetables. And no, it's totally not your age. There are many who have successfully lost weight past the age of 60 and 70. When you signed up to mfp, you filled out the diet and fitness profile with your stats, so the calories are bang on or close to it for your personal stats.
Your logging is way, way off...
Weigh and log meat, grains, pastas and vegetables raw...8 -
looking at your diary, it looks like you're putting in default values for several items. That makes it seem likely that you're not weighing everything.

OP, commit to at least 3-4 weeks of accurate, consistent logging. Every solid, semi-solid food possible should be weighed - whole food, packaged food, scanned food, fruit, everything. Log condiments, cooking oil, beverages, everything. This should shine a light on where your problem is.
Also, it's unclear how long you have not lost weight, If it has been a week or two, it's perfectly normal to not lose weight for a couple of weeks. Just tighten up your logging to be sure. Good luck!5 -

Good advice, also wanted to add if you were increasing gym classes do you think the weight gain could be from a gain in muscle mass?5

It's not your age. I used that excuse for a while, too. I'm 50.

There's a red flag in here that you should be careful with. Be very careful with the part of your quote that I highlighted. Many folks who try to do this have one of two major problems:
1 - They crash and burn because they're not eating enough and can't sustain it.
-or-
2 - They maintain a "bigger is better" deficit "just to be safe" and then suffer the consequences of not eating enough - all in a rush to lose weight faster.
I'm not saying you are doing that, but it is important to not accelerate the process. Losing hair, brittle nails, even cognitive function, among other things can be impaired if you are not fueling your body adequately. [ETA - left an obvious one out: loss of muscle mass - something you do not want.] So if you don't enter your workouts, at least be aware that if you are starting with a high deficit to begin with (I'm not sure what your current TDEE is with the workout load you do, or your current weight), it could be detrimental.
As tempting as it can be, don't try to lose too quickly. If you're not doing this for your overall health, you should be. If you are doing this for your overall health, you would already ensure that the process is healthy, not necessarily quick.4 -
I was told by a PT not to enter my work outs, I started at 71lbs and now approx 76lbs, sorry to sound thick but what's TDEE? I'll start tracking my work outs too1

Where you on a very restrictive diet? I found that usually was my problem as I found it unsustainable... if not then could it be that you put on muscle whilst exercising that was causing you to gain weight? Remember that gaining weight doesn't always mean that you're gaining extra fat tissue x4

Not really I'm vegetarian so sometimes eating same things each day0
