I know spot reduction is widely considered a myth and not scientific, but I feel like there has to be some credibility to it? I have been running consistently all summer and my legs are looking noticeably more toned and slimmer, but the rest of my body, especially my belly, hasn't changed a bit. I haven't been doing upper body or strength exercises consistently enough for them to make any kind of difference, so it seems to make sense my legs would be looking better than the rest. I don't really know what my point is, I'm just curious what other people think? Is spot reduction completely a myth or is there anything to it? Why would someone appear to lose fat in specific areas and not others?

This is anecdotal but I do a lot of cardio, spinning, and I've lost all my weight in my upper body (down 25 lbs) and I have not dropped a jean size sadly. I'm happy with my body and progress but I lose the weight where I last gain my weight. I've had no success with spot reduction.0

you didnt spot reduce, you spot toned, which is possible if you regularly use a set of muscles they are going to firm up under the layer of existing fat and can make it appear more toned looking.8

As the above poster has said no such thing as spot reduction. I agree it's spot toning.
Your genetics will also determine how and when you lose the weight. I lost 80 lbs dropped from 288 to approximately 208 lbs. I still have what I consider a belly even though I'm basically a 35 inch waist now I think for me to drop that belly I would either have to go through massive body recomposition which due to my genetics or drop my weight down into the 180s which I think is to light for my body frame I'm six-foot-four. My skeletal development is more like a swimmer where I have lean long muscles versus short bulky weightlifting muscles1
