I had bypass surgery in 2011. I wasn't advised to lose any weight prior to surgery, just advised not to gain any. I took the time to acquaint myself with the various protein powders and drinks to see which ones I would like and not like, unfortunately after surgery my taste buds changed and those I liked before surgery I couldn't even stand the smell of them.

Unfortunately I had a rough 2 years (2015 & 2016) and had a 100 pound gain from a loss of 186 lbs. So I did the pouch reset with my surgeon (basically going back to the program diet right after surgery) and getting my pouch to get as small as it could be again. Just over 1 month and I'm down 27 lbs again.

It's a hard road, many people think this surgery is the easy way out, but my personal experience wasn't that. For nearly 6 months I was sick every day and stopped eating all together. My hair started to fall out in clumps. I went to an independent nutritionist who put me on an extremely high (300+) grams of protein per day, mostly from protein shakes and my calorie intake was still only about 800-900 calories per day. This did the trick with stopping the sickness and the hair loss.

For me it was definitely worth it even with the hard times. If you every want to chat, just send me a message! Best of luck!
