Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.....I've just recently started C25K. I have lifted weights for awhile now but I'm rubbish at cardio do thought I'd give it a go! Anyway I have noticed that when I'm running my pulse actually goes down rather than up, whereas I'm not really concerned I am wondering if anyone else's does this and perhaps why!??

Can you explain with some numbers? it's fairly normal that if you run your puls ehas a certain level. The moment you stop or start to walk the pulse goes up for a moment.0

When I'm just walking it is around 70-80 but when I start running it goes down to 50-60.0

If it stays that low then you should go see a doctor. If you sit, stand up, immediately start to run it might just be a case of low blood pressure. But if it stays that low certainly go see a doctor.0

How are you recording it?
I have a Garmin FR35 and although it works great most of the time it occasionally has blips and records a much lower hr than I actually have, usually because I sweated so much that it's sitting in a puddle.

I'm recording it through my treadmill, my husbands also checked his to see if it was normal and his seemed fine. I have in the past been told I have got a slow heart beat but still thought it should be going up whilst exercising!0

It should go up quite a lot. Something doesn't sound right.0

Try to take a measurement on your wrist or neck for 15 seconds, multiply by 4. See if it adds up.0

It's almost certainly a machine issue. Some people just don't get good contact through the hand sensors--what you describe happens in a number of cases. For me, it happens on an elliptical with moving arms and HR sensors on the moving handles. Manually check your pulse to double check, buts that's almost certainly the issue.0
